The basic gestalt is
1) while certain polls show a slight advantage for the democrats in the (very unreliable) Generic Congressional Vote polls it is a lot closer to D+2 than to D+8 like the average shows right now. This discrepancy is an artifact of more democrats than republicans being present in the sampled audience, something that not necessarily reflects what will happen at the polls 2) the same thing for "voter enthusiasm". While democrat voter enthusiams seems to be higher than republican in certain polls it is a lot closer to a dead heat than an indicator of a "blue wave" and, at the same time, the "voter lack of enthusiasm" number is way higher on the democrat side, something that could reflect a large share of disillusioned and alienated democrat voters, not satisfied with the policy thin line the dems are taking now 3) Some polls show a much larger number of democrats defecting and voting republican than the other way around, something that does not fare well for democrats because they depend both on a larger turnout and on defectors in republican majority districts to flip the house and prevent a wash on the senate
