More likely that the improving economy applied pressure to Amazon to raise their wages as it was becoming quite well known that Amazon was shit to work for.

This was coming long before bernie showed up with his pinko sweatshop bullshit. Amazon had been paying only hour to their prime now & logistic center employees for years, even made them partime & hired disables to get tax breaks. I'm not kidding about hiring disabled only either prime now & other division like fresh got rid of bonuses, differentials & yearly raises. Now it looks like they're just applying that scheme to fulfillment centers now.
I work full time in a west coast FC, or fulfillment center. Without the bonuses no one here made less than 13.5 dollars an hour. In fact most new people made 15 an hour after attendance bonus & productivity unless they skipped work a few times a month. Bonuses attendance and up to 19-22 compensation if they stuck around long enough for the stock to vest. not including vacation & paid time off. Yeah and if they took overtime the 4% attendance bonus stacked ontop of the 1.5x pay, about 25 an hour for ten hours 4 times a month means an extra 1k pre tax. Two weeks of vacation a year & 20 hours of paid time off.
Now thanks to our esteemed senator from wherever the restricted stock units will be discontinued, no more monthly bonus of attendance & productivity. Also every low level employee has practically equal pay now. Slackers on their first week get the same as the rate monsters who've been here for years.
Honestly now all the fucking asshats that take voluntary time off to game welfare and social progs will get fucked & might leave now so kinda glad about that, but everyone in high cost of living areas else got fucked because bernies gave amazon the perfect stage let amazon cut wages & look like good guys for doing it.
