This. The soco affair in the early 90's proved this. Some comp-sci professor from southern california created a program that would write grammatically correct but subjectivley void sentences utilizing leftist language. It was essentially 100% meaningless word salad. It was accepted by several highly respected peer reviewed publications and was beginning to gain a cult following of ivory tower intellectuals circle jerking over how sublimeley transgressive it was. When the comp-sci professor revealed that he was simply trying to see if liberal publications actually read the matierial they published or just scanned for liberal buzz-words a host of intellectuals actually attacked him as a fraud trying to steal credit for such a great piece of literature.
So yeah. Politicized publications peer review process is basically just scanning for buzzwords. This isnt anything new.

Liberals love to signal about how much they love "science". The science that goes on in universities is virtually all worthless. It's just data for data's sake. The useful, practical science is all spawned from shit that liberals hate. Big pharma, the military, materials manufacturers, engineering firms, etc. Every great advancement is either done by the military or in the private sector. Academia is a giant waste of time and money.
That is partially true but for sure a lot of stuff still comes from academia. Sometimes with government funding for a result, sometimes they come up with something and then monetize it. Last one I remember was some battery tech but there are tons of them all the time where they spin their research off into a company.
Those who can’t do, teach. Students with the potential to do should be recruited straight from high school into the private sector, military what have you without wasting 4-10 years being forced to gain credits in subjects with no applicable utility to their lives. University is a waste of time and resources, all the more so in America.

I've done basic research(as in the discovery part of research) in Chemistry and it's not really like this at all. The basic research work is necessary if you find something actually useful but 95% isn't useful to something else. An example would be trying to develop a procedure for a specific type of reaction to make some compound. It's very useful to find that someone else has already done half your work for you in trying to make something.
