Ahmm, we are well aware we could have fewer people. We are not retarded. But the question that the German industry asked the German government is "Do you want a Germany with 16 million fewer working-age people in Germany by 2050" and the business-friendly German parties said "no way!"

Well, we are getting between 200,000 and 500,000 Eastern and Southern Europeans net each year. At say 300,000 per year, this will mean a net influx of about 9 million until 2050. There might be another 1-3 million illegals coming until then based on current influx numbers as of current year, but those illegals aren't skilled for the most part.

We thus have a gap of around 5-6 million. We could say "who cares, let us have fewer people" OR we get in another 100,000 - 200,000 people net from Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Kazhastan, Georgia, Usbekistan, China etc. And that is what the politicians just authorized. And contrary to popular belief, our politicians are well aware most people do not want African or Middle Eastern immigration - which is why they have put in these financial and language requirements, which mean 90% of legal immigrants will come from Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Voters do not see who is a Slav and who is a German. Also, Slavs easily learn German due to the similarities with their languages and our language. Most German companies recruit in Eastern Europe already, and virtually none is recruiting in Africa or the Middle East. Having kids in Germany is a very great sacrifice. The situation is not like in the US, where some middle management guy earns 300k or 500k or even a million, while a worker earns 40k. Of these 500million people, how many are willing to leave their communities and home countries? How many are the right working age? How many have fluent German skills or are willing and capable to learn German? How many actually want to accept German food standards and German work life?

Once you drill down to the actual potential from these 500 million, you end up with maybe 5 million. And those 5 million often have other options such as the UK, Canada, Australia, the US etc. And make no mistake, the young population speaks English, often at a very good level, so they very much prefer emigration to London, New York, Chicago, Toronto etc.

But generally, we still have a large part of our young population to go into apprenticeship, so the cabbie is generally wrong. However, in the unskilled area (cabbies etc.), you can see a lack of interested youngsters - simply because they have the option to acquire skills in a field which can lead to higher wages down the line.
