Socialism does not want that but to preserve the nations and have each nation protect the workers of their own country and collaborate with each other to build better societies through trade.
True socialists want each country to take care of it's own working classes and develop towards a socialist society instead of exploiting the native workers through importing cheap labor and fostering racial division. I am not for demographic replacement or the eradication of nation states, but for the eradication of capitalism and a new economic system for the nation state to ensure the fullest development of the nation state ideal, a state ruled by the people and the worker where the workers collaborate to ensure prosperity for all, reaching the full potential.

The USSR was not perfect by any means but it was a development towards a socialist society. It had it's high points as well as it's lows, but it was a society willing to push for revolutionary change. You can easily criticize Hitler's Germany and National Socialism for failure only lasting 12 years, while the USSR lasted 70+ and effectively conquered Eastern Europe and the Caucuses.

It's an American thing. The Commies and Socialists in American education (which is 95% of all teachers in the US) teach Americans bad definitions of socialism so that the American society can continue to slide in more socialism without the common American understanding it. Americans have a knee jerk reaction against "socialism" and "communism" in their DNA, but if you slowly slide them into it without letting them know, they are happy to accept it.
