I have been part of punk scenes that have felt like /b/ and Jow Forums, freaky people into bizarre behavior and discovering taboo ideas, bands, scenes, people, etc. many nights of good party bantz and good content, i.e. friends making good bands, music.

facebook became important to punks. at first very easy to find diy shows, make friends, promote your band. its formula was a effective and the scene became better, tighter, effective. shows were big, tons of bands. you could also find punk houses to live in and meet up with girls too.

something happened. people began to talk less about music and majority of facebook activity was taken over by virtue signalling. maybe virtue signalling gets more likes creating a feedback loop. maybe people got into punk, not realizing your here forever and had trouble aging in a punk rock life. probably hard on women that went from hot scene broad with social capital to no opportunities for a family and a meaningful relationship. I think the lack of religion fucked peoples head, as they have no understanding of moral interaction with a community. really bummed that there was potential for thriving music, and thats all gone. also women numbers grew. in some circles women became the majority in the crowd. women dont form bands. and when they do its very bad music. guys spent their childhood alone teaching themselves instruments and song writing. girls do not do that. the women increasing in numbers men are more motivated to becoming onions boy allies to women instead of cultivating the content of their scene.
