Perhaps instead of us trying to convince you against something stupid, you should try arguing why you think you have the right to steal the labor of others. After all, at the end of the day, there's going to be a bullet entering your skull when you try to do that.

Because progressive income taxation simply does not work without full capital controls to prevent money entering or leaving the country, and capital controls kill business and make your economy a backwater unless its export lead.

High income tax just means creative offshore structures and tax exiles.

The better solution is to tax the spending of money on tangible luxury assets that have to be purchased in country and attract registration or exise duty - vehicles, expensive property, champagne - that sort of thing

I live in Canada, I know a ER Nurse who makes 180K a year with overtime but they have to pay 40% tax on it. I also know a real estate agent, they own their own real estate business pay themselves a salary of 60K a year and funnel all the profit from their business(~300k) into business accounts which are effectively theirs so they only have to pay pennies on their real income.

When you raise taxes, the only people that punishes are ones who are honest and actually pay taxes... most super wealthy people make use of loopholes and convenient arrangements with associates to hide their money and pay only pennies.

Taxing million/billionaires up to 90% does not stifle their ability to invest in innovation (see: 1950's). Firstly, these corporate types NEVER end up paying what they're supposed to. They pay geeks who know the tax law inside-and-out a couple thousand dollars to find them loopholes so that they don't have to give up what they owe; additionally, there are (should be, if you don't have it in America) government incentive programs that give breaks to those who invest in innovation.

I'm a consultant doctor
If I chose to work ~60 hours per week, I could earn a salary of £250 - £300k. I choose not to do this, however, because more than half of my money would go to taxes.
Instead, I work only 4 days a week, doss around for the rest of my time, and get paid ~£100k. My take home pay in this scenario is not lesser enough to that of the first scenario to incentivise me to actually take on the extra work.
The end result of high taxes is to limit the productivity of people who are actually productive. It doesn't matter f
if ""hurr you dunt ned that much moneh"". Pay isn't determined by how much you need or want, but by what value you bring to the economy. The people who earn high pay are exactly the people who you want working MORE, not less, because their work often has the highest impact.
The sad thing is, a big chunk of these taxes end up being spent by the welfare state, which incentivises lazy and unproductive people to sit on their arses and do nothing their whole lives. It's a double whammy.
