Honest question - why does every project Germany undertakes inevitably seem to collapse?

It's just a meme guys, it's not meant to be taken literally.
What I'm actually interested in is knowing why Germany has consistently failed to achieve its strategic objectives or maintain long term stability whereas other '2nd tier' nations like Portugal or Poland have managed to build empires and maintain them for more than a few decades.

Because their position makes it impossible without Divine Intervention. They are in the middle of Europe, and for centuries they were divided, being played off against each other by stronger centralized powers like France, England and even Poland to some extent. What everyone always feared however was a united Germany precisely for the reasons the 20th Century demonstrated. When they are united they are just too strong to be contained. If they were an Atlantic bordering state like all the other colonial Western European successful empires (Portugal/Spain/Holland/Britain/France) then most definitely they'd have their chance to shine in other parts of the world, but because they are located in the center of the continent it means that the impact of their power will always first be felt by their neighbors unlike the Atlantic Western European nations who could look to the outside world immediately. Germany recognizes this fact that everyone fears her so feels the only way to keep Germany intact from powers that would seek to weaken her by dividing her once more is to dominate as much as they can. For Germans attack is literally the best defense. Unfortunately for them they are indeed so powerful that even nations like the USA an ocean away recognize that a German organized Europe is a much bigger threat to them and their own imperial designs. I suppose they take after Britain a lot in that respect at least. They too recognize keeping Europe divided is better for them in the long run.

Bad example to compare with, Portugal is probably the most glorious country in the world / it's own size. With 1 million people they ruled half of the world and for centuries, and only in the 60's, i think their empire felt and only due an internal coup. And in battle, Portugal usually won, even agsinst much bigger countries, like Spain, or France and even Germany.

We took our time slowly colonizing mostly savage lands,negros and indians were not strong enemies(low iq,no tech,quick to submit). The krauts went to war constantly with other european empires(many times fighting in two fronts) and got defeated only by other euros.

Portugal had tons of wars and battles with all the majour countries of europe, and usually won, good tactics on you side. But Germany in a total war scenario was amazing
