Russia was on a fast track to pull its shit together, to modernize and industrialize. It was one of the causes of WW1. Russia was quickly catching up. Too quickly for the Central Powers to allow it. The Trans-Siberian Railway line was completed and now Russia could move men and equipment from the Far East to the borders of Germany in a matter of weeks and not months like before. Russia needed reforms, not revolution and a civil war.

Modern Russian flag is a copy of the Dutch one that used to be common with the merchant navy. Aesthetic enough and looks way better than Ukrainian one.
