Wild Horse Management

Are wild horses in the US a invasive species or what? The US government wants to manage them but people go "oh the poor horsey."

>The U.S. Forest Service is set to round up 1,000 wild horses and says many of them could be sold to distant slaughterhouses.

I live in rural nevada so I have lots of experience with wild horses . They seem to only bother the farmers who try to claim they disturb land. As a hunter I've seen them many times . Once near Wildhorse I came upon a huge herd hundreds . Near elko u can spot them on I 80 grazing. They seem to mind their own business and stay away from society .

>Are wild horses in the US a invasive species or what?
>American education

Ironically equis genus began in North America. The natives killed off any of the original species, so it's really not bad that another species of horse showed up thousands of years later.

Yes they are. Their numbers have to be managed or else they graze on all the land that other herbivores in the area graze on, not just cows. Their populations are already resulting in them starving themselves out, too, which the hippies get pissed about and demand that they be given food. If they aren't an issue, then why won't the smart pro mustang people want to release all of the mustangs back into the wild? They know damn well their numbers got way too high and now tax payers have the price of keeping 30,000+ horses that cost roughly 43 million to keep there
They are objectively a once domesticated and an introduced species. The only question is whether the feral horses have a negative impact. The fact that we have to continuously round them up and spend 40 million on them leads me to believe that yes, they are an invasive species.

>The only question is whether the feral horses have a negative impact.
I'm curious if there are horse groups trying to prevent a study like this.

Why not just tame them? Maybe that's a dumb question, idk. I feed domestic horses and they are pretty crazy too, nothing like a dog which is cooperative, but also not skittish like cows. They are dumb as shit though, they are really unpleasant animals.

>Why not just tame them?
For what purpose? There are already lots of horse charities trying to take care of neglected domesticated horses.

Really? Buying one is pretty expensive, I figured there was demand. However I don't understand where the demand comes from considering we have cars now, and I don't have to spend ten minutes brushing my bar before I can drive it. So yeah, what do these people want? The best use seems to be foreign slaughter since no one will eat it here due to feelings. Also, word to the wise, women that are really into horses are usually crazy. It's also a very expensive hobby. I'd consider it a red flag.

The only studies I have ever seen have been studies of horses vs cows. Obviously, cows are much worse on the environment. I can't think of a worse farm animal. They require a lot of high quality feed, have toxic shits and methane farts/gas. A LOT of this argument is mustangs and grazing land, but I'm more concerned about the ecosystem they are in. Specifically, an ecosystem where we don't go in and continuously drop their numbers (another thing most studies tend to not think about). If they go largely unchecked in a given area, how does that effect the rest of the chain? I'm mostly concerned about the soil and grasses that they feed on, because that will result in what can later grow there and what is left behind for other animals to graze. Seeing an actual trend in how many live animals are seen will take several years, but just keeping track of the foliage left and making estimates can be done in a few years.

It's simple, horse season

Is this currently illegal?

>, I figured there was demand
France will buy them. There are animal activists that want to ban the the use and export of horse meat.

>women that are really into horses are usually crazy.
Yup, my mother was really into horse charities and activism. Every horse rescue I ever went to was run by a woman.

>wild horses
Feral horses. They are not wild, they are feral. They are massively invasive and terrible for the environment, but it's difficult to properly deal with them because of retarded hippy horse fags and their but muh beautiful wild horses!

t. worked conservation out west

Do you drive one of these?

The BLM actually does allow people to buy their animals. Issue is, no one wants them. They have actually considered paying people $100 to adopt their horses and donkeys. Training a wild horse takes time, money and dedication, and most people rather have their pretty pure bred horses for dressage anyways if they can afford that kind of time and money. There is an interesting doc called Branded where a couple of dudes train 12 BLM mustangs and go from the mexican border to the canadian border with them to prove they are sturdy horses worth the training. But the BLM still has something like 10k more horses in their facility than the facility can handle.
Here is a catalog of some of the already green broken in horses in north Nevada. Keep in mind it takes a long time to break feral animals, most horses for sale are not broken.

Well boys looks like horse meat is back on the menu

That's retarded. Horses are no different than cows or pigs. For what purpose? What would we do with all of the extra horses. That is absolutely absurd.

Yeah I work on a horse farm and it's run by an absolutely crazy woman. She starts drinking at around 11 and she never ever does anything to increase efficiency. She turns the job of feeding horses from something that should be a mostly automated 10 minute job into an hour long affair where the food is mixed daily instead of all at once when it's shipped in. Pretty much everything is like this, she hasn't incorporated any technology that's been developed in this century to her farm. I also see all of the other women that ride the horses(and the one gay man) and I would hate to be any of their husbands or children. Fortunately my wife hates horses almost as much as I do so I'm in the clear, but her sister that likes horses is a loon.

It definitely sounds like meat is the way to go then. Maybe glue prices would drop a bit too.

This sounds just like a rich Jewish woman I know that runs a small time hobby horse operation. Total bitch and control freak.

What's the actual problem with eating horses?
We eat cows, cows are pretty cool animals. We eat pigs, who are intelligent little fuckers. We eat whales, whales are intelligent too. So why not horses? What's next, not eating reindeer?

whats wrong with a wild pack of horses. Honestly would horses still exist without humans?

Its like eating a puppy here. Horses are regarded as smart noble animals.

Nope, it's not even legal to slaughter horses in the US anymore (thanks Obama), which is it's own separate issue. You can not get a tag for feral horses. In my opinion it's insane to need a tag at all for an animal that is so invasive we spend millions of dollars to keep their numbers down.
There's actually a really bad horse overpopulation issue in the US, made worse by the fact that now we have to transport horses to Mexico to be beaten by sticks and eventually slaughtered.
It is stupidly expensive to get a horse across the sea, I doubt they will be doing that for 20,000 horses

Attached: HeavyConcreteHorseshoecrab-small.gif (435x250, 965K)

They would, but not on the scale or consistency as they are today. They are in fact an invasive species and can easily damage any environment they enter.

Cows are very efficient in converting grass to milk, which is why they're good. Kept in smaller herds, they don't fuck up the local environment, their shit are good for other crops as fertilizer, and they fill out a farm pretty well. Are you sure you're not just thinking about massive corn fed herds that only exist because of retarded us agripolitics?

Bison used to roam the center of North America.

>Buying one is pretty expensive
Which is why there's so many in horse orphanages (horsphanages?)
When your little princess turns sweet suddenly the pony she got for her 12th birthday takes 2nd fiddle to the one she got for her 16th

There is no such thing as "wild horses" anymore strictly speaking. Just some feral / "stray" horses that are of the same domesticated horse races and breeds. The wild/undomesticated horse does not exist anymore.

Horses have no place in the americas.
They should All be destroyed.

nothing on this planet is allowed to be free

They've been steadily growing in population over the years and are now no longer an endangered. However, they are a native species compared to horses.

What meats *do* you eat in the US?
> Whale, seal or other sea mammals?
> Rabbit/hare
> Mutton
> Reindeer, deer, etc.?
> Elk/Moose?
> Alligator? Those live wild in the US so they must be eaten, right?
> Beef, chicken, and pork definitively
> duck, goose, and other birds?
> Beavers, groundhogs or something?

Because sometimes it sounds like you only eat pork, chicken and beef, and in order to spice things up you just add cheese and bacon to it. But that's just a silly stereotype, right? So there has to be a lot of stuff you're just not telling us.

They aren't native to the americas

Beef, chicken and pork.

Rabbit, duck and goose are hard to find.

wrong

Quads of truth.
No form of life is respected and it certainly is not allowed to be free. Everything must be controlled and profited from in usury.

Beef, chicken and pork are the most common meat Americans eat. I've actually eaten most of those creatures on your list.
My person favorite is Alligator.

Muh feelings. Little do the activist understand that making it illegal in America just means that instead of the regulated American slaughter houses where the area is clean, attempted to be as least stressful as possible and the horses legally have to be incapacitated before slaughter, they go on days long trip to Mexico where they beat them to death with bats or slit the throat while it's still alive. I hate factory farming but it's better than Mexico slaughtering facilities.
I'm talking about comparing the land use of farm cows to small to moderate horse herds. I'm not at all discussing their feed to milk/meat ratio (which I am sure is efficient, we've been selectively breeding that for centuries now), that's not part of the discussion. Just that compared to a feral horse, an animal that was bred to be as big as possible is going to cause more land damage. Keep in mind I'm not saying that cows are bad, just that comparing cows and horses is very flawed.

>duck and goose are hard to find.
not if you have a shotgun

Why cant you hunter niggers just leave nature be?
All hunters are retarded "we need to keep dem population in check" Nature keeps itself in equilibrium better than any hunter can.

Here in sweden they have almost genocided wolves to extinction, wolves used to be large, healthy and proud, but due to the dysgenic hunting only small sickly wolves remain, in low population. It's so absurd. Hunting should be forbidden, pigs and cows run zero risk of turning extinct, that is our food source. In the future wolves will be considered a myth if this continues, and many other majestical creatures.

Yuck.

When I wanted to try rabbit I ended up raising my own because it was hard to find and really expensive in So. Cal.

Veterinarian/animal reproduction researcher here.
We have developed an injectable contraceptive for elephants that also works in horses... Works like a bomb... However side effect is that currently it causes a local painful inflammation/swelling at the injection site. We're working on it.
>porcine Zona pellucida (pzp) vaccine

same. they stay off the roads, unlike those retarded burros

Read the fucking thread dipshit. Horses are an invasive species that are destroying the environments they inhabit.

>dysgenic hunting
This hardly gets talked about there despite rural agricultural retards understanding how animal husbandry works. They want to kill off the strongest animals to stick on their wall.

horses are the most retarded animal and people who own horses are just as retarded.

being a horse owner is being a paycuck, a literal paypig. i know horse owners that have spent more on their horses than they have on their children.

When are you going to implement it on negroes?

Let me explain, nordcuck:

Just like how niggers are less than human, some animals are more valuable than others.

I actually agree with you that Americans destroy good animals and allow worthless animals to flourish.

People should eat Canada Goose, Asian Carp, Lionfish, Feral Hog, Iguana.

>Wild game

If there is a overpopulation of elephants there why don't they move them to other parts of Africa? Are they the same breed?

The Spanish brought them over, correct me as to how I'm wrong

The BLM is literally keeping the population in check by capturing the excess horses.
Wolves were not a domestic species allowed to get feral, your comparison is flawed. Even pretending that wolves were invasive, they didn't pose a threat to their environment because their numbers were naturally kept in check by starvation, competition and disease. These horses have very little to keep themselves in check except for themselves, which destroys biodiversity
I remember hearing about BC methods, that's pretty interesting and sounds like it's not far off, but implementing it may be an issue. Is it a one and done deal or would it have to be administered regularly?

wolves are dangerous and eat people. they should have a reservation though, imo. they are coming back into Oregon and have already wiped out entire elk herds.
>Yuck.
fucking pussy
you can starve eating just rabbit, fyi.

>implying anything in Africa is logical
Recolonization when?

Is that a stave church built during the celtic christian times

Wild rabbit tastes like trash.

They released some wolves into the highlands here in Scotland and all the tagged beasts were killed in self defense by farmers within a year lol

Horse tastes like chicken, slightly sweeter.

It's mostly the cost of moving them between farms... We need a long acting contraceptive to reduce local overpopulation.

Black ovaries matter unfortunately

you seem mad bro. mommy take your allowance?

yeah and his wealth comes from dozens and dozens of mentally disturbed women who comes from middle class rural families, who spend their family's meager savings on horses that cost more than a year at state university

horses that die all the time, get sick all the time, horses than need trailers that cost more than new cars , its so fucking sad you'll see people who are destitute spending all their spare money on horses like a gambling addict, their little kids walking around in dirty diapers while their moms ride horses it makes me want to cry when i see the harm selfish horse owners do to their families

The boss has a "small" herd of Belgians (11 total) that I have to take care of. They are fucking monsters and I have on occasion gotten pretty fucked up by them, including one time when a stallion decided it wanted out of the barn so it ran straight through the fucking wall with me in between it and the wall. These are cold blood breeds, they are the calmest horses you can find, everything else is supposed to be worse. You couldn't get me in the pen with a wild mustang for all the money in the world, especially on the ground. I imagine most people with any horse experience feel the same way. The only non slaughter market I can think off is 16 year old girls from the cities/suburbs who have never even seen a horse in real life, and obviously they aren't going to buy one.

Absolute bullshit. Horse tastes like gamey sweet beef
>t. Have eaten horse and zebra

sounds about right. A tagged one was shot by a hunter about 2 years ago. it made Portland really buttmad

not an argument

This..

>you can starve eating just rabbit,
Nah, the best way i found was to make sausage out of it and add bacon fat.

ever gotten one of those big horn tags? heard theyre scarce as all hell

What we need is to replace their eggs and sperm with white genetics. If Africa went white in a generation then I imagine the world would be a much better and wealthier place.

I'll take that as a yes

I've been around races horses in a friends stable and it frightening. They have this loose cannon feel about them.

he is right though.
unless you are running a ranch horses are a meme/cash drain

>white intelligence with nigger morals
I don't think you've thought this through

Breeder or BLM ranch?

>white intelligence with nigger morals

jews already exist

Technically, horses originally evolved in the Americas. They just went extinct here and were reintroduced. Proto-horse was the size or a dachshund. Pretty adorable.

Can we do this with Mexicans?

See

i like horses and any damage they do is negligible. only faggot niggers hate horses. they are the white man's animal

Attached: 1519327874195.jpg (637x421, 121K)

>add bacon fat.
yea. so not just rabbit. bet that makes it taste nice, though.

Gib dachshund sized baby horse

Attached: pepe.png (778x512, 50K)

Feral hogs are hard to cook right, that's one big reason why they aren't sought after much. More time and effort put into something that usually won't taste as good as store bought shit. But I agree. Also I wish Nutria could taste better so people will hunt that invasive to extinction in the US as well.
There's a ton of money in horse competitions, specifically horse racing if you got some good thoroughbreds.
Thoroughbreds are a really hot horse breed, up there with Arabians. Usually in the higher tier races you will see thoroughbreds matched with a cold blood horse to calm them the fuck down.

Attached: arabian-horse-16.jpg (640x498, 46K)

>. bet that makes it taste nice, though.
That and a bunch of garlic.

Then let them starve out? Jesus Christ why do humans try to play god with everything?

>hurr bring some pones to US
>dumb indians set some of them free because muh nature/ escape
>pones are now over populated

i also read that our largest horses, clydesdales, were originally like half the size of current ones. then americans Americanized them and bred them to be behemoths.

Friend, I was raised by my extremely liberal mother and her black socialist husband. Now I'm full 1488 getting ready to build a huge white family. Nature > Nurture.

Why not turn nutria, wild hogs, and feral horses into dog food? Dogs are not picky.

This is why women shouldn't vote. If aliens ever invade, you better hope women don't think they are cute or we're fucked.

half nigger is still nigger

Husband, you idiot. He's my step dad. I'm 100% white according to 23&Me. My dad also married a jungle Asian, idk what those fucks are thinking, but I'm not doing that, I have a nice white wife.

I don't know about wild horses, but coyotes are a fucking pest in my city. They're all over, they go through the garbage, they poop everywhere, make noise at night. They have no natural predators so they just keep multiplying.

>Why not turn nutria, wild hogs, and feral horses into dog food?
Because then the factory that makes beef stew for people will have to retool.

Depends where you are in the country
>city = soiburgers
>rural = deer, pheasant, elk, squirrel, lots of opportunities to eat game animals

They are out of control in the San Gabriel Valley. All because one lady from West LA moved there and formed a law suit with PETA when the city tried to control them.

He raises and manages horses for city dwelling middle aged women

> If aliens ever invade, you better hope women don't think they are cute or we're fucked.

Why do you think we can't get rid of these fucking spics? I argued with a 50 year old lesbian who hordes dogs and a fat black woman for 10mins because I wore my Trump hat to work. The whole time I was telling them they can't stay because we can't afford them they screeched "but what about the children :CCC?!?!?!? don't you have a heart?!?!"

I love horses as much as the next guy, but realistically you can't let them ruin an ecosystem. The pro-mustang people don't even want to implement BC on the horses, let alone let them all kill themselves from over population.
First off activist don't want them to starve out, that's why we have to rally them up in the first place. Activists are not for humane treatment of the horses so much as they are for feral horses existing the the US. That's the biggest issue, BLM can't move to do anything right now except catch the horses and hold them and adopt some out. However, to let the majority of them starve could mean extinction/drastic decline of other animals that rely on the lands that horses use, and an increase in animals that would benefit from horse corpses that could also lead to drastic decline in their prey species. Also the species of foliage that may become threatened as a result. It would take a much longer time to fix that issue than to have a cash on horse bags and deal with the dead horse issue.
