Haha, I’m a lawyer and I got a good hearty laugh when I saw a couple of people saying this in the media. Idiots . . . There is no case whatsoever to be made against the news media for reporting on this controversy. As for Blasey Ford, there is probably no case against her as the judge is a public figure, and he would have the impossible burden of proving her a LIAR in court. Unless she has admitted to lying about this in writing somewhere- ain’t happening- then she would be able to get the case against her dismissed on summary judgment.

If he lost, he should have absolutely gone after Harris, Feinstein, Blumenthal, Avenatti, and others who were speaking of allegation as it he was convicted. Especially disgusting from Blumenthal since he's a Senator who went through the hearing practically saying Kavanaugh was a rapist and that should disqualify him not only from the SCOTUS but his (then) current bench as well.

I get taking the high road, but that won't do enough to discourage Dems from pulling the same shit in the future. They need to feel actual recoil beyond just not getting what they want. Conservatives in the US are too nice when it comes to stuff like this. They need to send a clear message that enough is enough and these slimy tactics won't be tolerated. It will make Kavanaugh look ruthless, but I view that as a wholly good thing.

Ford accused him of sexual assault which amounted to fondling her and covering her mouth. There is a difference in those charges but not a difference in the evidence they offered- which would be none.

I agree with you. They will try to sink any nomination possible through these means or similar, which is why the midterms should not award any meaningful gains to the Democrats, and if anything make them lose seats. They really screwed themselves with how they handled this; Republicans, undeclared, and centrists saw the scumbaggery and won't support it. Democrats who did believe Kavanaugh did what he was accused of will see the failure of Democratic Senators to stop his confirmation as a failure that needs to be punished and so they will vote for even more radical leftists, and split the vote in their party.
Viewing him as a man, Kavanaugh could have the grounds to sue the worst few individuals who slandered him and his family. As a Justice, Kavanaugh is supposed to be "above" that (unless there's a precedent for a sitting Justice suing someone). He won, the Republicans won, and there may very well be more winning in the next month.

This is why I think he won't do it. Despite Dems best efforts, I genuinely believe Kavanaugh to have a strong character and I think those principles will lead him to restraint. However, I don't think that's a good long term response. He could start the proceedings with something like

That and using a different attorney as a middleman would I think be the most classy way of doing this. But do this he should. There's too much at stake in terms of our political culture and what is considered acceptable.

She won't. I hope the left pushes for it, and it happens. The process of a lawsuit will draw out more facts then just her word vs his. There would be info about the correspondence between senators and other lawmakers. Her attorneys are advising her to not continue with this. They are holding her back. Leftists can look and see the Jews getting in the way of their progress, but the insane left wants blood. All they will do is further reinforce the fact that this is all lies and a political stunt.

False accusations against anyone can result in a lawsuit if one can show damage done. This is open and shut if Brett OR his family decides to take that action.

Right. They have to feel pain, consistent and repeated every time they act up, until they learn to submit. It's no different from domesticating a wild animal, because they lack the human ability to reason and make decisions based on anything but pain/pleasure.

The Senate Judiciary Committee should investigate and bring charges against everyone involved in misleading the committee. That would vindicate K while allowing him to stay above it.

Wanting to protect future nominees is a good goal, but something that will fall to the Senate Judiciary Committee. They should have their own investigation into why this happened, why accusations were hidden from them until AFTER scheduled questioning had concluded, and how those accusations were leaked to the media. None of which would bode well for Feinstein and her staff.

A few reasons the FBI didn't want to talk to Dr. Ford:
1.) Her team was clearly trying to stretch the time out until the midterms. While the FBI should not have time limits placed on their investigations, they are not meant to be handling these types of investigations in the first place. They are a federal agency, not a local/state police department.
2.) The Judiciary Committee already interviewed Ford and asked her questions, to which she gave her answers or clearly had none.
3.) Further interviewing Ford could have easily resulted in perjury if she changed her story or recalled things she earlier said she didn't know. No one wants to be accused of "Bullying a victim".
At this point, Ford had said she's not pursing any allegations and so it's clear she was either lying or knows she dug herself a hole. If Trump and/or the FBI wants, they can go after her more, but refer to point 3. She still could have very well been assaulted by someone in the past and if she's not going to keep pressing the matter then the issue is pretty much settled.
