That is not my concern. This separation of power not only by state but by county is needed.
The electoral college is just a part of the separation of powers.
The president and his branch holding a third of the power is done by design.
This is not a bug but a feature, the electoral college gives the most number of perspectives a voice for the highest office in the land.
The popular vote means very little, this is a republic, not a democracy for a reason.

Think about how many votes California had. 14.5 million votes.
Compare that to North Dakota which had less than 400k.
Why should California have so much more say over North Dakota,

I dont understand why they say its a bad system. In the last 120 years, elections have been pretty much even with each party winning about 13 times each. This suggests that the system is working very well. Only twice has the popular vote not lined up with the winner, and those were by fairly thin margins.

On the other hand, if it was a direct democracy, because of Liberals flocking to the cities, literally over 50% of the vote would be decided by 4 cities. Republicans would lose EVERYTIME. How is that more fair?

We are a constitutional republic each state is like a sovereign nation unto itself, governed by a federal gov and constitution to keep them together and working with one another. This is a simple explanation. A popular vote would work in a democracy but we are not one.
