I don't know about that, First Past the Post is a pretty good system, all things considered.

thanks jidf
gas yourself on the way out

Of course a fucking Brit would say this. There is literally zero systems worse than FPTP besides “fewest votes win”

C'mon Straya, you should know better

You can’t export shitposting for profit, poorfag.

Even a fucking lottery would be better than bloody FPTP

Not really. It is just absolute majority, so the poorer regions, where people breed crazily, have more electing power than the others. In elections the candidates focus too much in the northeast, where the poor states are, because they pratically decide who wins, while my region, the north, is pratically forgotten.

But yeah, open election with multiple political parties in the first turn, and second turn between the two best if the one with more votes don't take more than half of the population votes, is a pretty good system.

Why don you build a wall around northeast? I wouldn't be surprised it was those fuckers that ruined Rio and SP by coming in droves.

Hypothetical. There are 100 voters and 3 candidates.

A receives 60 votes and b receives 40, independent c gets zero. In your country, round two means that A could receive 0 votes with c getting 100.

In America, non-R/D have literally zero chance of winning. If they did, 2016 could have ended up being Bernie vs Ron instead of Hitler vs trump.

I spoke too soon. Your electoral process is almost exactly the same as ours, but more cockteasing.

It does have an outside chance of being better on some remarkably rare occasion.

Because the dumb leeches would die in one year if you cut the resources the other regions give then, everyone there is too incompetent. They are like a clinically retarded brother: You hate the faggot, but you can't just let it go because you know it will die if you don't take care of it..

No. The first turn is open with all the 40 or something parties choosing a candidate, but only the two most voted goes to second turn, in the hypothesis of the first place don't get more than 50% of the votes. In your hypothesis there would be no second turn, because A got more than 50%.

The party don't really matter, what matter is the person that is running. PSL, the Bolsonaro party, is not even close to be strong, the only reason to why Bolsonaro is running on it is because it was the only that accepted all the ideological changes that Bolsonaro demanded, since he was hot shit even tough he wasn't associated with a political party yet. The strongest party in Brazil with the bigger representaion in the legislative is PMDB, and it's candidate didn't even get to Top 5.

It don't have really an duality on parties. It did have something like "PSDB vs PT" in later elections, but that is something that goes easily off the table if the personalities of the candidates are strong. Lula could say "PT is gay" and run to PCdoB, and he would still probably win if he wasn't arrested.

CNN said he wouldn’t win the first

Is there a single nation with a functional voting system? I don’t remember the name, but essentially it would be ranking every single candidate, then the count up all the one votes and that is “the guy to beat” then they count up every single other vote and compare what people most prefer.

I actually have trouble explaining, but here is a quote:
>Preferential, or ranked, ballot: Voters rank the candidates — first choice, second choice and so on. If no candidate emerges with a majority after the first count, the lowest-ranked candidate comes off the ballot, and their votes are redistributed according to the second choices cast. This continues until one candidate achieves a majority of 50 per cent plus one vote.

Except I would go further than “until one reaches majority” and say you keep respecting the topmost choice of each voter throughout their list while attributing their vote to the majority leader at each stage unless it loses.

Then have more children or reduce economic inequality so people stop breeding. This is your own fault

I thought Australia had that.

Well fuck, if they didn’t give us their guns they could have easily ruled the planet.

Still depends on turnouts though
If your Second place Leftist candy too unpopular with other Leftists, they'll stay home or spoil the ballot instead

Im not so sure. The problem with the 20 parties in a parliament is that it leads to more corruption since every President has to bribe a majority.
