It was super easy to promote certain stuff there though, as everything would get a lot of views due to how G+ was designed. You could post literal shit, not have any friends or followers, but your post would get a thousand views any way.
I wish Twitter took a similar approach to allow original content to be promoted somewhat organically. Moderated social media are shit for content creators.
