The truth:

The neogothic Saint-Jacques church was built between 1868 and 1878, it resisted two world wars and bombings. But the unstable soil, water seepage and a 2004 storm weakened the construction, which is collapsing in places. Mass has not been celebrated there for twelve years. The walls were cracked, the windows stained, and mold had grown over many of the walls. Stone also were cracking and falling from the church.

THe restoration of the church would have costed 12-15 million. Money the town of Abbeville, with only 20,000 inhabitants could not afford and that's why it was demolished

It is not true that the church was destroyed to create a parking lot for a mosque. The demolition took place in 2013 and the property was turned into a square/park for social gatherings.

The French government owns a shit ton of churches, they basically nationalized churches during ww1 and took over their upkeep.
Sometimes they go unused so they get demolished to save money.
Lots of shit like this happens just so some bean counter can add "I saved my department 0.002% during this quarter" to their resume.
