Serious question. Most punks, liberals and alt-right guys I know are politically on a very shallow level. Like just-going-to-festivals-tier and being butthurt about things that never really occur in their life. They never read a book or have done anything for a party or joined community projects.
When it comes down to it, most political kids are just like their normie counterparts in (consumer) behavior. Heck, not just "political" people, but also religios ones.
Ideology is mostly used for aesthetic, reputation and ego reasons as it seems.

In fact, my favorite Bible verse is: Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge." But do we need to sit in a library and know "everything" - impossible. How about some common sense notions that even a simple farmer can understand: 1. You work harder when you are able to keep the fruits of your labor. 2. Redistributing wealth means that you take from people who work and give to people who don't. 3. Everyone needs to own a gun - because the world is evil and evil men need to be stopped. 4. Stop coveting what other people have and be content with your life. 5. When a group of men come together to "change the world" - they are probably working for evil and to take away liberties - not for good.
