Well I mean you need to get a 51% control over the market to get a much higher quality of pay. Bidding on jobs with Mexican's okay to work for $14 is competition but those jobs get what they pay for having 1 Journeyman, 8 apprentices, and 3 material handelers. Higher quality work and standards with 5 years of school I would say lends credence to the necessity of the IBEW at the very least. If you are part of the union you can only benefit more from participation. If you go through the union apprentice program why opt out of membership unless you get into a specialized field to go do your own thing? At the very least our pension carries with you in our union.

Unions just make it harder to fix a problem that is real that is too many people have kids and don't have anything to offer them and these kids compete with other kids that don't have anything and their value as a group drops.

They can be good but many have been around so long they have become more of a detriment than a benefit. Also, if you are not part of a Union, you can still be compelled to pay membership dues if you "benefit" from union action. It is just a money making scheme.

Also public Unions should not exist. It gives public servants an additional power over the government in addition to voting. A government worker in a Union has more power over the government than a regular working citizen. That is not right.

It's a variety of factors. For one, most of Jow Forums are neets so they are just talking out of their ass Those who do work are pretty unlikely to have been in a union shop, let alone a union member. Those who have been in a union were likely to be in a corrupt one.

I was a union steward and I saw the corruption firsthand. I had 3 managers on sexual harassment and there was no disputing it but the higher ups in the union covered it and I wasn't legally allowed to go public. I still support unions but I can easily see how one bad experience would push people away.
