THC isn't the only thing though, some of the weeds you will see have less than 20% but are high in another compound that potentiates the thc making that weed super killer

no most strains have had a test done and in CA testing is mandatory for all items sold, terpines are measured and catalogged but they are finding new ones all the time, at least 40 have been discovered so far

no, the plants were like that for a long time, just a lot of bad shit was bred and inbred because of prohibition

the original landrace strains that count had huge THC and were grown for their ability to produce resin crystal to make hashish

Pretty much only the Indian/himalayan and afghani weed was bred over time like that. There's a lot of other landraces like thai, columbian, durban, etc that just grew wild and were for the most part really low in THC until they were selectively bred for higher THC. It didn't take long for them to get really dank though. The resin is used to capture pollen so the plants needed to produce it in order to survive.

Canada doesn't do anything the right way, the government is only legalizing pot to make another captured market for their political friends.

you can't selective breed higher THC, this plant was strong from the beginning and elements have preserved that strength, for instance the Thai stick strain you talk about, was created by the US Army by crossing an Afghan with local Thai bud, which is why the 2nd generation of it sucked so bad compared to the first, the locals did not have access to the original afghan landrace, very few people have the heat when it comes to those old strains
