Because conservatives can be as much NPC as leftists. Some people have chosen to be conservatives, identify all the characteristically conservative positions and follow to the letter, no questions asked.
There is evidence that climate changes. Most likely sinusoidally (up and down). What seems to be up for debate is whether mankind's activities have any impact. There are some scientific theories. They are not conclusive, however they seem to have more basis than the theory that what we do has no impact on climate change.
The US, China, and pretty much any fossil fuel producing country doesn't even want to know the truth, because doing something to reduce the emission of gasses that supposedly produce the greenhouse effects would require enormous infrastructure and economic changes.
So, to summarize. Climate change happens. Whether it is affected by man's activities is what is up for debate. Your average conservative NPC simply decides that it doesn't exist. The average leftist NPC doesn't realize we have to upend the world economy to make the necessary changes, which is too hard to do, specially considering there is no conclusive proof

the climate change scare is entirely about the carbon tax. in the US it would generate 3 trillion dollars in a decade.
the beautiful part of this scam is that global temperatures are going to cool in the next decade because the sun is entering a period of lower solar activity. this is completely natural and predictable. so when as the climate cools the government would claim that the tax is working and government grant whore scientists would back this claim wholeheartedly.
they are so desperate for the carbon tax that they're willing to stir up mass hysteria to get it. it's beautiful really. they've managed to trick people into demanding that they need pay more taxes.

I'm for sensible regulations that avoid massive amounts of smog or the dumping of chemical waste. The issue I have is that the regulations imposed are so strict that they hinder economical porgress and gives competitors like China an upperhand.
Not to mention that these regulations, if imposed on smaller nations, will hinder their ability to advance without foreign influence. Such a thing is unfair and hypocritical for these same nations are only where they are now due to little to no national regulations let alone international ones.
