The freer the market, the freer the people. There are multiple economic indeces that show that the freer a country's economy is, the more prosperous it is. This applies on a global scale and even on a regional scale (Chile vs Venezuela, Botswana vs Zimbabwe, North Korea vs South Korea, Italy vs Norway).

Furthermore, the idea that the government is the entity with the most oppressive potential out of all currently existing entities is painfully obvious. Many constitutions, including the American one, acknowledge this (read the Federalist Papers) and are based around limiting the government's oppressive potential. This comes from the fact that governments have an established monopoly on violence and work very hard to maintain it. Just think about what happens when you don't pay your taxes: men with guns ram down your door and confiscate your shit.

The government, out of necessity, wields a lot of power. This requires that their power is not only legitimized (in popular sovereignity), but also used restrictively and very much limited. This is not a "dogmatic claim", it's literally the very basics of political theory.
