But energy density per unit mass is substantially higher for liquid hydrogen than for kerosene. That's actually kinda more important for flight than energy density per unit volume.
There are a lot of other problems with cryogenic storage though and trade-offs might outweigh benefits. Still those new shiny composite cryogenic tanks could make it possible and feasible.
