And S-400 is more expensive than F-35 so it's a win. Technologically even an S-300 can take down F-35 but again, only in scenarios of commotion. In the laid-back battles like now, any expensive plane is safe from these systems.

Once the pilots found out that their aircraft were no match for the training scenario, this prompted Washington to ground all F35's for Lockheed to do further testing
This also led to Israel grounding their flights as well.
Key things to remember is that the US pilots and Israeli pilots only flew against an older S300 model in Ukraine
The new S300 Model that Russia has is far more advanced and is as good as the S400 system except the range capability is a little bit less in regards to (Km).
All in all. US and Israel are spooked that Syria has such a sufficient Anti Air system, and this is an excellent system that will deny any future airstrikes against the SAA

Anti Radiation missiles can be used against all radars in the first place. Russian's themselves use tactical air defense to attempt to counter enemy SA and SS missiles.

If actually penetrating a hostile airspace en masse, there would be all sorts of tricks being used by the air crews. Jamming the enemy radar, wild weasel missions, using drones as decoys, a mix of both stealth aircraft at high altitude and supersonic ones at low altitude.
