We need to be careful not to make the mistake of thinking we can "De-NPC" the NPCs. There were two factions in the 1980s, the old school left liberals, and the bible thumpers, who thought they could win the NPC masses by "educating" or "enlightening" them.
Both were wrong, both failed for a while, until the leftists faced the truth: NPCs are NPCs because they are NPCs and there IS NO CURE FOR IT.
So instead of wasting time trying to "wake the people up" they turned their energy (with the help of the media of course) towards programming the NPCs instead.
And that started in the late 1980s. The rest is history.
So let's not waste energy on trying to wake up the NPCs. They are incapable of thought. That's why they are NPCs. That's why they are programmed.

The left "won" by finding out how to program the NPCs. And they did it mainly through appealing to the base instincts of the NPC. That is, NPCs all want to be cool and accepted, and hence the leftists made following of their narrative and agenda cool and acceptable. They took their lessons in the 1990s from the anti-smoking campaign.

So how would be win? First, we can't "cure" NPCs. NPCs are like deer drinking from a poison well: they'll step over a ring of dead deer to get a drink. The only way to beat the leftists will be to realize this about NPCs, and then come up with a better program. This program is already in effect to some extent: memes. Memes break into the NPC head easily. It's like a virus that spreads by looking at it.
