You can still buy great books from these places even if they aren't put up front and center. For example, you can buy Evola's books on almost any book store purchasing website.
Knowledge isn't so much hidden today as it is buried among the millions of cookbooks, crime novels and biographies.

I work in the book industry (but not a bookseller) and you're right about the sheer volume.
There are hundreds of thousands of new books every year, most of them low-impact forgettable books that won't make their authors any money. Most mom & pop stores that exist in the age of amazon only do so as middlemen that carry the greatest hits, whatever's safe and popular, because they have to make money to survive. Unless a particular store's book buyer is aware of Evola, and wants to stock him, you'll never see it in bookstores.
