They have to deal with absolute trash ruining their property.

There's got to be a solution to the problem of compound interest - some softened curve that flattens and smooths - charges less interest - as you've paid more of the debt. My property is only 3 acres and the state takes $3,800 a year in taxes just for me to live on it. It's so bad that many people started buying cows, chicken and other livestock just to save for the tax breaks. That's not a possibility for some of us. I work in a very specific job field in a hospital. The only hospital that facilitates this field is in my state's capital. I cannot afford a $1,200 monthly house payment as well as property taxes. I can't move out of the city because its the only hospital with a level 1 trauma center. Why would it be such a terrible thing to have affordable housing?

What is the problem with having affordable housing? Why should someone who works in service for the public, to help the public not be able to afford a place to live? By the way, I didn't major in medical, I just ended up falling into the position and decided that I enjoyed this work more. I majored in criminal law, had a series of events that lead me into helping out in a trauma call and decided helping people who are physically dying would be a better use of my life than litigation.

Rent is just usury by any other name anyway. It isn't the same as a hotel or bed-and-breakfast which is explicitly temporary living space where the property owner is fully responsible for everything including cleaning the place and must dispute damages in court. Renters are the opposite where the tenant is applying for "permanent" living space and is fully responsible and must depute the renter in court.
The solution to rent is to simply make it so any amount of money paid through rent that is used to pay mortgage or property taxes is effectively "payments". In order to evict a tenant they must repay the person for any money spent towards mortgage or property taxes.
