Increasing Minimum Wage

I got into a fierce argument with a friend of mine about increasing the minimum wage. I wanted to know what you guys think about it.

Minimum wage increase is good it keeps your boss from hiring cheap labor who may learn more than you and pass you

If minimum wage spics somehow pass you in ability and knowledge then what the fuck are you doing wrong. You're white, start taking shit back.

There shouldn't be a minimum wage. It increases inflation and eliminates entry jobs for teens.

Tipping should also be banned.

Raising the floor just raises the floor. Once the prices of everything adjusts for the new minimum, the increased minimum wage will have the same buying power that the lower wage had before. The sectors that can automate, will.

TL;DR raising the minimum wage accomplishes nothing.

>Worrying about spices taking your job
I'm talking pure white teenagers with fresh minds and ample opportunity. They could easily gain skills with right dedication to compete with us
Minimum wage should be used to protect us from the young and in some cases elderly

Ask Venezuela

Well if theyre white, and theyre better than you, shouldnt they get rewarded for being better than you? Like that just seems logical that the superior people get paid more than the inferior people.

>Voting for other people's interest
They'd didn't teach you about democracy in your hillbilly school?

this

Huh, good thing we live in a republic then faggot

The republic ended with the 17th amendment buddy

should be indexed to a percentage of median wage

>implying there arent various processes in the US government that prohibit citizens from amending or appealing the constitution

If we booted out most of the illegals, and constrained legal immigration to a small number of high-skill individuals, this problem would fix itself. Wages for unskilled labor would rise, and just as importantly, property prices/rents would fall.

I literally just brought up an example of one you mongoloid

>TL;DR raising the minimum wage accomplishes nothing.
look at your minimum wage and your poverty level compared to every other developed country

>flag
nah I'm good

Much more complicated than a simple black/white conclusion.
As with most policy issues, the optimal approach is the one the balances conflicting tradeoffs. Yes this statement drives black/whiters nuts.
Low wage labor.usually makes up only a small % of product/service costs. So raising minimum wages by itself results in a far smaller pass through in product/service costs. So there is a net good for the low wage worker.
But raising minimum wage adds pressure to raise higher wages of skilled workers to keep appropriate differentials, ... fuck it’s too complicated to go into all of the nuances..
Bottom line. Minimum wages are good if they are reasonable and they are bad if they are not. Live with it.

Minimum wage hurts those who are most vulnerable. i.e., Those who do not produce more value than the minimum wage. You would see a decrease in employment in poor communities. Those that are unemployable must turn to alternative means to spend their days and earn their money.

Yes people with low skills or experience not be allowed to work I agree. More people working means less money to go around pay goes down

Wages shouldn't be artificially increased. They should be dictated by the free market based on the available labor force. In order to properly have an increase in wage we need to cut immigration, thus lowering the pool of labor which will make us more valuable and automation will be filling a lot of jobs as well. Now what will happen is automation due to forced regulation of higher wage by the government in a market that has too much available workers.

>raising the minimum wage accomplishes nothing.
Absurd, you miss the obvious that people's quality of life improves with more disposable imcome.

Yeah, we don't have a minimum wage here

What a fucking retard . The thing is that everything gets more expensive with each year while minimum wage stays the same.

you have almost universal union membership which pushes up wage levels

You have less disposable income when you're unemployed.

More like 50/50. Young people rarely can afford being in the unions

Ask your friend whether it would be beneficial to raise the minimum wage to 500/hr, and if not, why not?

If he can manage to articulate the answer to that question, then he already knows why ALL increases are pointless.

increasing the amount someone must be paid for a job does not increase the value of that job

if you want to get paid more it is your personal responsibility to negotiate your pay

Markets are rarely free. Employers frequently collude either implicitly or explicitly to suppress wages in areas and industries and discourage the movement of workers. Minimum wage laws act as a countervailing force against overwhelming power on the part of employers.

Increasing the minimum wage decreases the scarcity of money increasing costs across the board.
It also totally screws anyone who had spent their life saving money for retirement beyond inflation rates.
All so you can appease some bottom of the barrel lazy bogan cunts who flunked out of high school and spend their days working easy jobs.

That’s a fine NPC way of looking at it

The more socialism the worse it is. If your minimum wage is high you should be unhappy.

I have traveled much of the world and the working class has it better in Australia than just about every other country on Earth.
The trade off is the lack on incentive to build and create business which is going to see us end up as an economic backwater.

So the lowest tier of worker does better here than anyone else, but because of that nobody with real skills can be paid what they are worth.
politicians go on TV talking about people are doing it tough... They're playing life on easy mode and still complaining.

Also, Minimum wage increases drive up the cost of everything meaning that the lower class profits off the middle class thanks to welfare.

increases unemployment and violates the freedom of contract

Why do you think employers can afford such treatments? Because of the abundance of supply in workers. The problem, immigration of 3rd worlders, was caused by the government. You solution is to introduce even more government intervention. I'm not buying it. This will only bring a very short temporary solution that will fail in the end. Your salary is based on what you are worth to a company. Too many people with similar competences as you automatically cause your worth to decrease. Having big mommy government forcing your employer to pay you more than what you are worth isn't going to work. Then once the market adjust to the new wages, and trust me it will, what are you going to do? Ask for more government intervention? The wages are too low I agree but the government, the ones who caused all of this, are not going to fix it.

Lmao mexico get your shit together

great, we are about as good as israel in that regard, WE NEED TO IMPROVE!
