It was a bad idea to put all the eggs in one basket. This plane is supposed to do everything the F-15/F-16/F-18/F-117/A-10 used to do. You could argue the F-22 is the real replacement for the F-15 but it was only built in small number and not available for export. It was always going to be a big ask to replace the roles that many planes with one plane.

By the way, most of these sort of design flaws were covered up in the past because of the Cold War. For example, the F-14 Tomcat which is everyone's favourite fighter aircraft because of the movie Top Gun, was plagued by technical flaws during most of its entire service history. It's two turbofan engines were un-reliable and had a nasty tendency to flame out and stall in high speed flight and at high angles of attack, in fact, the F-14 Tomcat had a lower thrust to weight ratio then the aircraft it had replaced the F-4 Phantom II, the Russian Mig-23 could in fact out accelerate an F-14 and it was considered one of the worst fighter aircraft ever designed.
