In order to approve Neil Gorsuch to the position of Supreme Court Justice early in Trump's presidency, Republicans had to 'go nuclear' as it was referred to at the time by changing the rules of nomination to require only a 51/49 vote in the senate instead of the traditional 60/40. This of course, benefited in the Kavanaugh case, since they wouldn't have had the votes there either without some kind of compromise. To be fair, the Democrats had done something similar during Obama's Presidency with lower court and cabinet appointments.
Point is, the Supreme Court is now much more overtly a partisan branch of Government. With the 60/40 vote, unless you had the overwhelming consent of the states, you'd need to elect a potential justice who's both lukewarm on partisanship and probably sweeten the deal for a few members of the opposition in order to get your 60 votes, but now whoever controls the Senate controls the Judiciary and its Republican's who made that change.
I'm glad there's another Republican in the Judiciary, but I'm not a fan of changing traditional rules of government for short term political expedience. There's going to be a point where this is used against us.

>republicans warn them "this is going to bite you in the ass"
>republicans gain power
>Nono wait were kidding lets go back to the old rules goyim
You kikes are fucked
I wish you were smart enough to see the uniparty in front of your face.
It's been 96 years since a republican decreased the size of government.
WE should water the liberty tree with republican and democrat blood.
No fucking shit, dumbass I talked about how Democrats started it in my post but that doesn't mean I want destroying functioning Democrocy to be a game played by everyone in Washington instead of only half.
>destroy a functioning democracy
Explain how
>Republicans had to 'go nuclear' as it was referred to at the time by changing the rules of nomination to require only a 51/49 vote in the senate instead of the traditional 60/40.
Nice try.
The more individual agencies become partisan, compromise becomes less likely. The less likely compromise is, the harder it is for government to respond to immediate threats.
Wahhh I want mommy Hilda
Holy shit, for the third time:
>Democrats disallow filibusters on Supreme court nominations and make lower court appointments a 51/60 vote
>Republicans in response make Supreme Court nominations a 51/60 vote
Yes, Democrats clearly started it, but Republicans are the ones who made the Supreme Court a purely partisan institution.
Then you will lose every election.
It is impossible to compromise when the other side will break the system to get what they want.
Principles are no longer how elections are won.
*51/49 vote
>functioning
>democracy
There is no such thing as a functioning democracy. Most people are out for themselves and vote for short term gibs while destroying themselves in the long term. Even our Founding Fathers thought democracies were bad, thats why there was limited voting rights until people were shortsighted and just wanted extra votes in an election (women, non-property owners, niggers, now felons, etc.). The only thing that has ever been proven to work are monoracial republics with limited voting rights and right wing dictatorships. The rest just end in ruin.
>that doesn't mean I want destroying functioning Democrocy to be a game played by everyone in Washington instead of only half.
Then you're a retard.
The other side will break stuff to get their way all the time, and you'll get nothing. So we'll end up in exactly the same broken system as if it had been 2-way breaking, except it'll also be a Dem dystopia with mandatory white abortions and federally-enforced homosexuality.
The USA is a republic Jesus Christ you faggots didn't even pay attention in civics class in 7th grade
this is our last chance, OP. Victory is all that matters, by any means necessary. We have played nice with leftists for decades. Where has it gotten us? It is time to finish what McCarthy started. These subversive, unAmerican, and communist fifth columns must be completely purged by all necessary and effective means. Victory is all that matters.
We aren’t a democracy you piece of shit
That's what it originally was, but with all the expanded voting rights it essentially became a democracy. It pisses me off. I keep thinking back to the collapse of Rome. We seem to be copying their every mistake including the introduction of voting rights to plebeians.
>Republicans are the ones that made the supreme court partisan
Nah that happened when democrats started appointing unqualified retards to the bench that cant, or refuse to, read the constitution.
>Yes, Democrats clearly started it,
And were warned about it when they did it.
>McConnell tells Reid and the Democrats simply, “You’ll regret this, and you may regret this a lot sooner than you think."
The filibuster and the required 60 vote supermajority required to overcome it appear nowhere in the Constitution. They're an organizational rule created by the Senate. As such the Senate can change it anytime it wants. It was created by a democratic vote in line with both the Constitution and Senate rules. It was removed by a democratic vote in line with both the Constitution and Senate rules. There is nothing special or magical about it. Procedural rules are changed all the time to adapt the organization to the realities in which it exists.
At that point in time all the leftist publications were talking about a permanent majority and a reduction of the Republican Party to that of a minor regional party with little influence. They were OK with changing the rules because they truly believed they would be in complete control for decades and didn't want the minority party pestering them.
Once a democracy is "diversified" people vote based on race.

This is true.
They were high on the two terms of Obama.
Clinton was sure to follow him.
HAHAHAHAHAHA compromise went out of the window when half of your country believes your president is an illegitimate neo-nazi installed by putin.
Its over for you, whoever takes the high-ground will be crushed at this point.
