I was reading about the Battle Of Seattle a while back. Whole bunch of indians decided they'd had enough of the white man and were going to take him out. As it turns out, the raiding party would have wiped out every single person in Seattle except that a US warship had been alerted to what was going on by a RIVAL tribe, so the warship landed a bunch of troops and cannons to repel the attack.
