When those polls show a republican in the lead, it is usually significant.

This is true. There is another factor IMO at play that the blue wave theorists have not calculated.
The polls were so wrong on Trump because he engaged people who were not ever polled, because they were not voters. They either never voted or hadn't voted in so long, nobody would have ever called them.
A lot of people who normally do vote couldn't stand the thought of either one of them, so they just stayed home.
A lot of those people who normally voted but just stayed home have seen more money in their pockets, more houses and businesses being built in their neighborhoods, and if I were the gambling type my money would be on those folks going out to vote for more of the same next month and in 2020.

The polls are weighted in favor of democrats. So when republicans are winning anyway, it means that they're ahead so far that the poll's oversampling can't cover it up.
