I don't do drugs but I started to question my reality as well, because what they are doing is obviously completely brain dead.
So I started to double check my numbers and the polling and tried to look into it as someone who supports the Democrats. Started to listen to their side to see where I'm wrong. And to be honest I still think the same. They are diving head first and hoping on luck and that something, anything works. And it keeps not working.
They hurt themselves with the Kavanaugh circus and instead of trying to memory hole it they double down.
They hurt themselves with minorities with the abolish ICE shit, and again, they are doubling down.
They hurt themselves with the Police unions, and instead of smoothing things, they double down(although they did get rid of BLM)
They are not trying to kick Antifa out, they embrace crazy socialists like Ocasio-Cortez instead of distancing themselves from it.
I just don't know where I'm wrong in this assessment so I will keep looking for the win that they see here and that I'm missing.

As silly as it sounds- that was then, it will be different this time because you have their politicians actually calling for the aggression.
The excuse that they used then won't be sufficient now.
Also the right is MUCH more fired up now, then it was then. Kavanaugh, abolish ICE, impeachment as a part of the platform(it wasn't as clear then), abolishement of 2nd amendment right now is openly stated as well.
They guarantee the raise in taxes now.
They guarantee the impeachment of the President(in other words they do not accept the results of the election)
The trust in media is lower now then it was then as well, much lower and surprisingly even on the Democrat side.
The situation right now is a powder keg that we sit on and some, like me, are praying that no nut job picks up a rifle and goes on a killing spree.

Yep. That hurts them as well, but don't forget that their guaranteed voter base aka the Blacks and Hispanics and Muslims is shrinking as well. The abolish ICE did that if it comes to Blacks.
The LGBTQ support dwindled so they got more Muslims(and by more I mean 66%-75%).
Abolish ICE also lost them some of the Hispanics, especially the second generation and definitely even more Cuban.
I don't get where are they seeing their strategies winning.
The one thing that I read that made sense was that women vote will be more important then ever during midterms but that would mean that the Kavanaugh was supposed to bring in the women vote, and it simply didn't.
