Was life better in the old days?

Was life better in the old days?
Or is that nostalgia speaking?

In America, for sure. My grandparents had it much better economically than my generation. You could get a union job at a factory and support a family on one income. If you went to college, you were SET. Now, you need to go to law school in order to make an upper middle class income. Society was also more moralistic, though not completely.

Also, wages have not risen in like 30 years and housing prices are skyrocketing due to our endless immigration.

I can't remember a single time in my if when there was such a large, loud, violent number of shitskins as today. Just 30 years ago you rarely saw blacks anywhere except at government institutions such a school or government offices such as the courthouse. Now they loiter everywhere. I think the law enforcement was much more strict with loitering niggers. They knew they didn't have money so they had no business hanging around the mall or the other white places.

Back in the 80's and 90's we always had a common enemy to unite against so it at least seemed that everyone for the most part, democrat or republican got along. Now it seems that are enemies are almost entirely domestic. Being democrats vs. republicans. It's a shame really.

Life was indeed better, the land has fallen to whoredom and as has stated, shitskins and their pestilent chimpouts are now tolerated. America will turn into Samaria no doubt; a nation of godless savage mongrels of which there will be very few people who are worthy of salvation

also in Austria
based former National-Socialist party members were the last people who represented traditonal values and they also kept leftist faggots in check
with them almost completely gone Austria became a marxist shithole and now we have to put the shattered pieces of a nation back together
and the worker's income also gradually lowered since the 1980s

It was shit, matter of fact worse.

Seems like America had it pretty good, but I don't think I'd want to live anywhere else, not as a member of the working class anyway.

90's tv was GOAT. All I do is rewatch seinfeld, king of queens, old Nickelodeon, goosebumps, and other shit. Like would be 1000x better of social media never existed. Early 2000s internet was great.

If you really believe this then you must be incredibly young.

This is what pop-music videos looked like when I was a kid. youtu.be/-nUUlJvUeT8?t=14

Compare this to now.

He's partially right. An example is that prior to the Millennium, no one from either side of the party could get away with "hating America" or "Americans." Hillary and Bill Clinton were literally anti-open border and anti-homosexual during the 90s.

>King of Queens
>90's tv

Simpler probably. Without all that information you were more clueless and wisdom not always brings joy.

Maybe nostalgia too. I recall standing in a queue to a post office, bank, 1-2 h in a queque for a white cheese before Christmas.

The boomers had it made, every generation before them and after them has gotten fucked.

Nostalgia

I miss the 90s when I grew up; people didn't cry about every fucking inconvenience in life. Technology gives people a voice that shouldn't have one. Everyone is alarmist and waiting for the next thing to be outraged about. As much as the internet is good for learning truths it sure fucked up everything giving every retard alive a voice.

There were only a handful of shows with a damn in the 1990's. Very little holds up and the majority were some of the worst PC garbage ever created.

*quark

It's pure cuckery to say nothing has changed. In fact it's cowardice to not say things are worse now then they were before.

People say it to try and absolve themselves of any blame for the problems and any responsibility for fixing them.

Not politics
Get out

we're living through what will either be the collapse of western civilization or a resurgence of tradition, meaning patriarchy, actual religion, monarchy, etc.

It's looking like it's going to be collapse but there are faint signs of hope in some countries(Poland, Hungary, Italy, Brazil).

So yes life was better when we didnt live in a literal fucking dystopia

Attached: 1535489630748.gif (1000x1000, 208K)

is any life better in any day? no

This. I feel like the next 10-20 years will dictate our next 100. Regardless I just want our cuck PM to get hit by a bus

Yes

Stupid mutts. Don't you have ever heard about economic growth? People are now richer than than ever due to it. If you happen to poor, it is not because life is hard but because you are a loser.

Fucking typos.

>no one from either side of the party could get away with "hating America"
Again, if you believe this you must be either young or naive. Back in the '80s there were scores of Democrats who were friendly to the Soviet Union, making visits there and openly praising Gorbachev while hating Reagan and US policy towards communist nations. The media was a complete left wing monopoly and lockstep against the "dangerous Reagan foreign policy." The Left nearly blew a gasket when Reagan called the USSR the evil empire and walked away from talks with Gorbachev.
And as far as the Clintons, they only played the moderates because he wanted to win re-election and guys like Dick Morris were telling him to go moderate after the Republicans took the house in 1994. The Left hated welfare reform and everything else Clinton worked with Gingrich on in the mid nineties. Bill Clinton actually cared about winning more than adhering to leftist ideology do he had no problem appearing moderate, and he had the establishment media in his corner as well.
Remember, in the '80s and '90s the media was three networks and the major newspapers, all liberal. There was no internet or Fox News. A lot of this notion that America was more united back then congress from the fact that all your info came from the same sources and they all agreed that Republicans are stupid and evil, and the Democrats and globalists are intellectuals with pure motives.

>People are richer now than ever
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The essence of nostalgia is novelty. You don't miss a certain time, but miss having an undeveloped mind that was experiencing the world for the first time. Before the dark times, before the empire.

It is nostalgia speaking. Things have been better you faggot.

YES!

It was better in America for sure. Why? Because America was whiter the more you go back in time.

People used to make do and mend. My grandfather made his children's shoes himself, with a shoe last. Sad that people are too lazy to do this anymore. Middle Class materialism is disgusting.

Old fag here.

The 60s were bleak but everyone was poor a very rare few so you really didn't notice it.

The 70s were a little better, just about every family had at least one car and one TV. As kids you had one pair of shoes for school and play and usually one pair for church/special occassions. You got two pair of jeans a year, that would have patches on top of patches on top of patches. Usually you had 2 to 3 "school shirts", a couple of hand me down rough wear shirts, and a couple of "nice shirts". Toys and luxury items were extremely limited.

The 80s is when there became some expendable income but still many families had one TV and car. The middle class expanded and decades of inflation helped increase overall quality of life (the house you paid $20k for is now worth $50k and your salary has doubled to keep up with inflation, so your home payment to take home pay just got halved). 401k started so a whole new revenue stream hit Wallstreet and the market shot up, crashed, and then shot up again.

From a fun standpoint, it was significantly better. You got home from school and played outside with friends, built tree houses, rode bikes, played sports, went home to eat dinner, and then back outside to play. As a kid you were considered a non-entity, you had no say what to watch, eat, or do when around adults but they didn't care what you did when they were not around. Obviously the key was to stay away from adults and all was good.

You learned some personal responsibility and how to fend for yourself. You also realized that your parents were there to help themselves, if you want to succeed, you better accomplish it yourself. I think that is the biggest problem today,

Millennials feel entitled to everything that other generations went out and worked for. Your parents and grand parents didn't have it easier. They lived in a world where you were lucky to have a job so you kept it and worked hard at it.

>They lived in a world where you were lucky to have a job so you kept it and worked hard at it.
I think you mean they created bullshit cushy nonjobs like consultants HR departments and HOA's

of course it was better. we didn't hear about stupid shit happening every single day. for the most part, your world was just the people close to you, not the whole fucking global community.

Let's go back in time by 30 years shall we?
>1988
You could bike all over town at night as a kid and not have to worry.
Halloween door to door candy gathering after sun down was totally fine.
If you fell from a tree and broke an arm it did not bankrupt the family.
Boy scouts gave kids knives and taught them the outdoors.
Huge bangs with hairspray fad was dying out.
Music scene was picking up with MTV.
Movies were pumping out all the good shit and taking risks.
Electronics were becoming cheaper, furniture got a lot more plaid.
Not a bad time. Not the best, but not the worst.

Attached: 1988 movies.png (800x600, 896K)

People forget the first wave SJW in the 90s which gave us the word "African American". The pendulum swung back after a couple years which gave us offensive gross out comedy of the late 90s.

Yes it was far better. Still riddled with sin and death but compared to modern society life was far better even in the recent past, say the 70-90s.

>The 60s were bleak but everyone was poor
Wasn't that when familial purchasing power was at its peak? When the average American family was weather than it's ever been?

That was the 90s and 2000s user. The big liberal boom that came to shit on the world. Every company had to hire legal departments to fight a never ending stream of discrimination and fake injury claims. HR departments to make sure less qualified ethnics would get the jobs over more qualified whites. HOAs created because decades of allowing in immigrants lowered the bar and neighborhoods lost their pride and became shit holes.

Liberalism and multiculturalism is the real enemy to happiness and success.

Depends how old are you user? London pre 97 was so so much better.

In what ways?

Just guessing, but probably the lack of third worlders and 1 br flats not costing $1,000,000,000

Life was much better in the past. That said I'm thoroughly enjoying the Trump presidency. I just miss civility between the right and left. We used to be able to make fun of one another and ourselves.

>born early 70s
>teen mid 80s
it was better

i used to hate 80s movies and music but in the past couple years I've realized they were the creative peak of modern low culture through pinpoint satire and aesthetics. Like, as simplified as you can get while still having something to say without too much getting lost in translation, all while hitting peak aesthetics. A lot of the Arnold movies come to mind, mostly Total Recall and T1.

Also, 80s pop music is so god damn original, its crazy. youtube.com/watch?v=tNfIq9KTkfE

Now the left will scream at rights and call them nazi's when they try to say anything. Then bash them with stick or kick them for not being accepting of others. Then rejoin a parade and make out with 8 year old boys.

we are in the great awakening of our time.
this is a golden age for people who seek information and truth.
dark times for people who want to just go about their lives pretending nothing is real.

Well to be fair Romania was under the iron grip of communism back in the day so of course it was shit for you all until you guys did what should be done with all commies and shot Nicolae Ceausescu and his evil wife.

Life is still pretty good here thankfully, I noticed every desirable location is much worse though, traveled a lot with fathers side of the family as a kid an going back to any of those places (stockholm, paris,) is not fun

Trump is a cartoon character of a president, but he is putting conservative practices back in place and they are working. The liberals are having a fit because conservatism works.

Obama was a cartoon character of a president that just talked in circles and put liberal practices to use. They had no meaningful positive impact. Conservatives living in mostly conservative areas knew it was just a matter of time until a conservative was elected and things would improve.

It is easy to be patient when you are mature and know your ideas work. It is easy to panic and riot when you are immature and you know your ideas are vaporous, without merit, and do not work.

Well if you told me or even my parents in 1988 or even 1998 that 20 years from now a guy randomly making out with a little boy in a parade would be cheered for I would have called the police. Hell, back then if the same thing happened police would have swarmed the parade, their houses, child services would have been involved and there would feds wanting in on that. They went to far and the world is seeing it.
As for Trump, he was never suppose to be president. They underestimated his ego and drive to success. Slammed the ever living shit out the republican controllers. A total wildcard that surprising is doing very well so far.

Why do Gen Xers say they can't let their kids go outside or not wear helmets then blame it on society? Nothing will happen but they have these imaginary fears about society.

the dog being part of the table really hits home

Not really. College educated upper middle class professionals were making around 20 to 30k. My family was considered wealthy and my dad made around $25k. Our house cost around $25k, we had two cars (most families had one), and two TVs. Air conditioning was a luxury and only ran two or three times a year. I did have more "stuff" than most of my friends but remember my parents constantly fighting about money and being broke.

A upper middle class family in the 60s had the spending power of a welfare family today.

Existing "Conservative" politicians were more politician than conservative. They were scared to run on a conservative platform. Trump gave no fucks and the country was ready for a break from the crazy liberal train.

Hopefully conservative politicians will get back to being conservative and stop worrying about pleasing people that will never vote for them anyway.

Liberals are fantastic at small incremental gains. Conservatives are horrible. Liberals slowly chip away at lowering the bar one tiny step at a time. Conservatives tend to fight for what they believe and likely loosing.

As long as there are liberals willing to lower the bar to normalize the lowest common denominator of humanity, the world is not in a good place.

Conservatives need to learn to incrementally raise the bar one small step at a time.

Ofc it was better. I could make a fotune (aka a bublegum that you need to chew for a half an hour before it get soft) just for standing in queue for buying bread or coffee.

Now i cannot send my kids to buy me cigarettes and beer.

How boring would conversation be if the person you are talking to was a woman and never left the house
I'll stick to my gigabytes of porn

Why do people imagine these society changes and go wahhhh i can't send my kid out to play or let them ride a bike without a helmet. Yes you can. There's nothing stopping you but social norms

She'd probably talk about the neighbours and the stuff she bought for you and her with your money. You'd probably be more satisfied with the conversations you'd have with your male acquaintances than any woman anyway.

>genuine oshkosh b'gosh overalls

heeng

>people
> Jeff Bezos and Carlos Slim are people

God she used to be so gorgeous.

There certainly was a period where women were sexbots in film and vidya, so yes.

Look up the sex offenders in your neighborhood or within 5 miles. Things have changed, it's not just imaginary.

That plate of sliced tomatoes indicates this is a based household. Sliced tomatoes for the win, yum. Also, some things were better and some were worse. More entertainment choices now but we used to have fun anyway. Also, social media sucks.

It was simpler in the sense that the overabundance of media and the internet causing the average person to be exposed to too many people, all the time, and think about politics wayyyyy too much, did not exist.

Honestly, these days people walk around thinking constantly about random social/political shit and wasting their life protesting, all for one measly vote or to affect a couple other votes. Just think of yourself and your family and get out of the system mindset.

WAS LIFE BETTER BEFORE THE JEWS? HMMMMMMMMMM I WONDER........... NAH ITS JUST PROPAGANDA

why arent their sons wearing dresses? what kind of bad intolerant parents are those

you're going to have to name some of those pro-soviet democrats, user, because the democratic party was strictly anticommunist in the postwar period. hell, even fought two wars against them

you're so full of shit

ideally she's doing social crap with all the other housewives. luncheons and such. then you'd hear a neverending stream of gossip. plus don't forget church on sundays

To be fair the democrats didnt really get as subverted as they are now till the nineties, when good ol chuck jewmer got invovled. Imagine that, a jew fucking it for the rest of us

I doubt you lived long enough to see your country without jews bud.

twitter is the worst

It was a capital city fill of actual Londoners. It wasn't as expensive . There was still organic cultural expression. All the pubs weren't closed all the gig venues weren't closed. It wasn't an over crowded wasteland of affordable housing tarted up commie block nigger hutches

Whole areas are now occupied by stupid violent brown people. Areas that used to be full of white families doing the family shop on a Saturday are now having to call out riot police at school kick out and put knife detectors in the MacDonald which used to be full of dad's with their kids
There was real community. Now there's acid attacks
Schools celebrated Christmas without having to get the imam in to comment because the demographics have changed so badly. Africans are why we don't do Halloween in schools anymore Because they're scared of witchcraft
England is dead it just hasn't realised it yet . Don't even pull the it wouldn't happen here bullshit, that's what let's it spread.
It's the fucking Nothing from never ending story

So yeah the past was better

happiness with no screens, devices, sugar-coated algorithm bullshit colors and lights, addicting apps
i love that

things were less gay back then. people were less hostile. mostly the gay has ruined the future.

Omg it was the ambien kyle

They were always there. You're just more aware from the internet. The crime rate is much lower.

>house costs 25k
>yearly income is 25k
>upper middle class family had spending power of a welfare family today.

weird my extremely average house costs 250k, and I make nowhere near 250k. It's almost like you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. We have far less purchasing power, especially when you consider that women are in the workforce too, doubling the amount of labor.

hi tori...welcome to Jow Forums

Even growing up in the 80's and 90's was better. There was still some mystery about the world and growing up. Far away places felt far away. People spent more quality time together since it actually took effort to organize and reach out. Kids had much more freedom and parents were likely to just tell you to go outside and get lost for a day, you were on your own.

Yeah internet when it was useful and not 95% ads and bullshit creepware. I miss this old wild west internet. People loved Google when it first came out, I wish we could all look back and see what monster we created.

less technology dictating how we act and think

Yup, shows how they hold onto values when it comes at the price of power. Democrats are all the same, blowing in the wind with the latest social trends to trick the idiots into voting for them.
