Conscious experience itself is the only thing that can't be an illusion by definition, since even if the contents of consciousness are illusory the experience of illusion is still an experience that is occurring. Even if the contents of that experience are being constructed by a simulation the experience is still happening.

With this in mind, what you do to modify your conscious experience and improve your psychological well-being still matters, and so nihilism makes no sense even when acknowledging the ultimate futility of existence.
