That is a beauty. The fleet is only 48percent combat ready. That is shameful. Mattis ordered it be brought up to 90percent. During the first gulf war our operational readiness for combat aircraft actually increased from 80 to 98percent combat capable.
The Airforce is really in the shitter right now. Had obama had it his way he would have done away completely with the F22. He went after it hard and canceled procurement of a large number of aircraft we would have today instead of the 180 or so we have now.
People talk alot of shit on the raptor but right now there is nothing in the sky that has its capabilities which is why we dont allow them to be made and sold to any other nation allies or not.

The F15a was the first aircraft we really got right far as air to air was concerned. It made easy tracking and firing at multiple targets with very little heads down inputs from the pilot. Pilots loved it and it performed very well in the sands of the middle east. WIth the lantern pod on the F15e it turned out to have awesome air to ground capability at night which was something we didn't really have at the time outside the B2 and F117 which were limited and very expensive.
My favorite all time aircraft is still the F16. Just something about it. If i could live the fantasy and own one of any aircraft in the world it would be the F16.

Funny thing is the Air Force did not put up a fight to save the SR-71 which historically never happens (the A-10 being a perfect example). The only reason they would do that is if they already had something better. The SR-72 is real. So is Project Aurora.
