The BC government just did a study on their highest speed limit change in 2014. Raising speed limits to 120 km/hr resulted in significantly more accidents over historical data to the point they are planning to revert the change ASAP.

Here in Germany we have significantly lower accident rates than in the US and Canada with 60 percent of highway km not covered by any speed limits.

This, I watch people on a daily basis driving 45 in 65 zones. It doesn't sound bad but they still can't stay in their fucking lane going under the speed limit.
And don't forget injury accidents caused require Fire/Police/Medical and an increase in injury accidents means you have to pay more taxes to cover the damage.
