No the thing is that if they don't see something happening, then it simply isn't true to them. It doesn't have to be hidden. It reminds me of something crazy that happened to me a few years ago. Some muslims gang raped a woman in a wheelchair so badly that she was in the hospital for two weeks. This case was brought up in a group of friends. It wasn't until I said that the rapists deserved to get brutally castrated that one of the women got mad and started screaming at me. She hadn't reacted at all when people mentioned the rape. It makes sense to me now. She witnessed me saying mean things about the rapists, so therefore I was a bad person. She didn't witness the rape, and since she's an npc with no internal voice, then it's impossible for her to build up a scenario in her head. The rape wasn't real to her because it wasn't happening in front of her in that very moment.
