The party that won the presidency has only gained seats 3 times in the last century. If Trump manages to do so, or at least hold on to the majority, it should be read as a total rejection of the direction the democrats have been going in, and as an opportunity for them to actually develop a platform that isn't just "orange man bad."

Of course, they probably won't and will just double down on their shrieking once again as they continue their slide into political obsolescence.

I'm still voting and volunteering to help win the house, but it's not the end of the world if they take the house. If anything they'll expose their stupidity and make 2020 a walk in the park, and we'll get all three branches again with a plentiful majority.

Lindsey Graham is a successful politician. He at least is demonstrating he knows how to leverage which way the wind is blowing. I trust him about as far as I could throw his butt plug collection, but no doubt lots of other politicians are thinking about what they might gain by being early adopters, and that's potentially good for starting some sort of lasting party reform.
