Japs do this story, it's long, it's intricate narrative wise, the art is well done and clearly took effort, the story line builds up over time, doesn't pander to adhd plebs, it's inventive and creative in conception as a concept. The creator had to have some ability to think past "I'm whimsy look how majestic my whimsy.
We, in turn, have some Up shit; Old man sad he lived decades with his wife or something, oh how heart tugging. Then afterwards it's cartoon sound effects and *zings* and bullshitery. That's, well, kind of a decent comparison to Anime vs. Western stuff.

This. Anime is great because it's just so unkiked. Sure it may be goofy and alien sometimes but they always try to focus on good storytelling, unique ideas and great, uniquely-styled animation. Death Note, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, OPM, Gundam, Fist of the North Star, DBZ, Full-Metal Alchemist, HunterxHunter, My Hero Academia... the list of novel ideas and memorable stories in anime is simply unbelievable. Obviously there's still a lot of trash anime, but that's mostly from it being TOO boring or TOO uncreative, not because of some forced social political jewed-up message like "All womyn are queen!"
