Religion itself is not NPC, but passively accepting indoctrination is. Finding meaning in a text and seeking deeper understanding of it, as well as connection to your ancestors and community, is a pretty worthwhile thing. The NPCs are the ones who only “read” the nice parts of Genesis, Exodus, John and Luke and call it a day.
