California has massive state deficits and is on the cusp of bankruptcy due to massive entitlement spending in the forms of government worker salaries and pensions. The only thing keeping it remotely afloat is the amount of money Silicon Valley firms feed into the economy, but due to the high taxes many people are leaving the state and taking their tax revenues with them. Just because they have a high GDP doesn't mean they are forever going to be an engine of the economy, especially if they go broke in the next 5-10 years which is almost an inevitability at this point.

A 100% wealth tax would fix the deficits, but it would be unfair and excessive. Raising the income tax rates and treating capital gains as ordinary income would make more sense and fuck people over less. I'm aware of the boomers needing their pensions, but that can be adjusted by increasing the standard deduction so you don't impoverish people.

If you really cared for your daughter you would have spent whatever it took to get insurance needed to save her life. By saying that Republicans would take away insurance from her means admitting that you wouldn't go to the lengths needed to save her life yourself and instead wanted someone else to take on that burden. This is why you shouldn't have had children in the first place. You lack the true motivation to care for her and only have a vague attachment to her as a social obligation rather than actual familial love. You could sacrifice and work harder pulling in an extra job to afford medicine for her and insurance to keep her healthy but instead you see that as a burden on yourself and lament that you "couldn't do anything." rather than putting forth the effort to make it happen.

That doesn't mean that it's the BEST approach, just that you need to stop pretending MUH DEFICIT IS UNPOSSIBLE TO TAX AWAY. You're right. However, both tax avoidance and capital flight wouldn't be 100% effective. In particular, it's a little difficult to move real estate out of the country.
