They actually knew that Hitler was right

Such an iconic photo

The French got checkmated. There really wasn't a way for them to continue.

You know it's crazy to think that in the modern era this kind of warfare is pretty much over, at least in terms of like first world countries. You're never going to have your country occupied by a neighboring nation or anything like that

they took the bait so we could finish them off

Poles made some tragic mistakes during the September campaign, French did also, except x10.
Hitler introduced completely new war doctrine, no one was ready for that.

They threw the fight because while the leadership was commie the military was friendly to fascism. Division Charlemagne weren't cowards.

French hate Krauts, burger.

Go back to prep your bull on the beaches, in the streets and in the fields Nigel. If it weren't for the yanks, uk would've been steamrolled and you know it.

Like Hitler, I too, wouldn't step foot in Paris until it was purged.

Imagine hating other Europeans more than you hate Jews and Bolsheviks. I bet you're Quebecois. Canada's Catalonia.

Bnecause the French knew they were better than the alternative

Outnumbered, hacked (maginot line...), and the blitzkrieg was unstoppable. Lucky ruskies had their winter with them.

Because of the leftist governement of (((Léon Blum))) and Albert Lebrun. Who gave vacation to workers to be elected when Adolf was making tanks.

After the loose they called Pétain to wipe there faults.

THE ETERNAL LEFTIST JEW

Nope, Alberta.
It's just a fact of the matter. French hate Germans, English hate French, Poles hate Russians, Hungarians hate Romanians etc. Why to you think they had so many wars in Europe over the centuries? It is a pretty hateful place.

Based

The French thought that their forests would keep the Germans out, no shit.

And Beijing chinks hate Hong Kong chinks. Sephardim hate Ashkenazim. But they still have in-group loyalty, just like the French military.

The moment the non aggression pact was made we were fucked

Then its just got worse when the belgium didn't want to have the Maginot line inside their territories

We also didn't like the jews back then

"Belgian"

As far as I can tell the French really did disarm after WWI and couldnt remilitarize fast enough to match Germany. Also the Blitzkrieg was revolutionary at the time. There wasnt exactly a standard doctrine to face it.

Because post revolution France is a meme country that's rotten to the core

Deep strikes and CAS.
That's why. The french had built an infantry based force, slow and powerful, with less planes and tanks spread all over the divisions.
They were not expecting the germans to move so quickly and managed to build a front. It was very bloody, like very. But the french tanks were loners, slow and with poor communication, while the air force was badly outnumbered by superior planes. Yet they held for a a time. Until the front was pierce through multiple points, french divisions divided while the Lutwaffe was pounding them and decimating their tanks. Then the coup de grace, when very fast concentrations of german tanks out rushed behind the lines, cut the supply and surrounded undefended cities. The famous ghost division of Rommel zerging, unnoticed and unopposed for hundreds of kilometers in few days before anyone, including the german commanders, could react. Then it was over. The french remnants, out of ammo, fuel, isolated, fell back or surrendered, sabotaging their equipment when they could. Some could blame the brits, but nothing would have prevented the collapse of the front: a new and improved military doctrine was applied against obsolete strategies, with adapted vehicles and superior air force.
It couldnt be won, aside from a miracle.

The low french morale was also a factor. Google "Bulson panic"

France was extremely politically fractured (mainly between socialists/communists vs. everyone else) in the 1930's and frequently on the brink of collapse, and the French military was complacent (due to being the victors of WWI) and couldn't formulate a proper strategy for the possibility of another war other than sitting on the maginot line. it's a no-brainer that Germany which was unified in thought and goals would defeat the fractured France where most people hated the government and refused to serve in the army. It has nothing to do with cowardice. Germany didn't defeat France, France defeated itself long before the Germans invaded

They teach you this in school, you must be 18 to post here

Hate has nothing to do with this. It was just competition. No french peasant cared about german ones.
Yes, because until then, rarely an army had manoeuvered through a forest with tanks
We didn't disarmed. Germany had not a really bigger army. But it was better equipped and designed.
Tell that to Napoleon and half the world we conquered.

It wasn't worth the destruction of thousands of years of history to resist an overwhelming opponent.

They made the right choice... it wasn't a gallant decision, but it was the right decision.

This
And this

There wasn't really a new military doctrine, the Germans succeeded at their initial breakthrough then it was somewhat chaotic, including for the Germans. The german officers on the field kept pushing forward, when the High command ordered them to stop to avoid a flanking counter-attack. What was "new" was the german culture of freedom of initiative for the officers at the front, not a real "blitzkrieg" doctrine.

Yes. Half the country was traumatized by ww1, later, the epidemics had claimed thousands, and the country was deeply divided, mainly between commies, moderates and fascists. And everybody feared a new slaughter. In the last 3 decades, the country had been bled dry.

Guderian developed fully mechanised infantry regiments and the tactics to fully utilise them.

Read his autobiography it’s fascinating

THIS

>Are the french cowards?

Yes...

Attached: French DOD.jpg (600x400, 61K)

The concrete forts and bunkers the allies built weren't as impregnable as they thought they would be.
youtube.com/watch?v=iD_rX71O78I

French were cowards. They saw Hitler's military might and said fuck that, I surrender. To avoid getting bombed to oblivion. Then, france offered its finest women to the german as a token of utter defeat.

Attached: 02.jpg (1658x2048, 474K)

open borders
and that's a good thing

>france offered its finest women
OUI MONSIEUR

Attached: tumblr_pglg8b42hb1qkgl1c_1280.jpg (1280x947, 214K)

all french forces were on the border, germans when through a spot a modern army supposedly couldn't go, they immediatly encircles the french forces and cut the supply lines. ran out of cheese and wine. check mate.

actually yes and no.
A german plane was intercepted by the french, revealing what germans had in mind for their conquest.
The question was: Will the german change their plans or no, after they noticed one of their plane was missing?
french though germans won't change their plans at the last minute.
Gerlans changed.

*germans

It's because the French wouldn't retreat. I'm not even kidding.

Exactly, France sent their crack troops to the Belgium-German border and they wouldn't retreat once Germany broke through the Ardennes.

why would some german plane have the invasion plan lmao?

the plane was scouting

Not true and not true. They were encircled because they wouldn't retreat. Also the French Army had slightly more tanks, men and artillery than the Wehrmacht during the Battle of France.

with the plan? oh no no no no

our tanks had better armor but shit cannons. our army truly was an interwar army, very big, very slow.
germans steamrolled all the allies on the battlefield until they couldn adapt.

even if they tried, french tanks were way slower than german ones.

>If it weren't for the yanks, uk would've been steamrolled and you know it.
just like in ww1

>Outnumbered
The allies had almost the same amount of troops as the axis. and they outgunned the axis. The only thing the Germans had more of were airplanes.

Outmaneuvered.
Lack of communication.

France gave up trying to be a country durring WWI

Everyone looks so destined except for that fat fuck who's laughing.

this, unironically

The maginot line was perhaps the biggest military blunder of the 20th century, and that is saying quite a bit, considering all the competition it has.

Basically, the French put all their faith in static defenses, thinking the Germans would never try to approach or overrun them, because they would lose too many men. And to their credit, they were right. The germans never directly assaulted the line until the fight was basically over. What happened was, the Germans simply went around the line and attacked the french through Belguim and the unprotected areas of their border. The french static defenses literally directed their enemies to where they were the most lightly defended. As a result the germans were able to encircle and defeat the armties of France without much trouble.

Bigger question is:
What would have happened if it worked?
>France and Germany get weaker and weaker by fighting each others
>Meanwhile Staline rubs his hands

The French were extremely prepared for a WWI war of positions.
But:
1 - The Germans innovated with a war of movement and took them by surprise.
2 - France lost about 8% of their male population during WWI (Americans may imagine a war where they would lose 16 million men) and a good portion of French territory was razed by bombs.. No one was really eager to do that again, especially since Hitler had no plan to exterminate the French, or even to force them to fight Bolchevism with him.

You mean if the Germans did a suicidal zerg rush at the maginot instead of just going around it? There would have been a stalemate for a while, until the Brits and the Americans showed up to put an end to it. Stalin honored the non-aggression pact, by the way, it was Hitler who betrayed the agreement and doomed eastern Europe.

What about the Canadian menace?

germans also had a maginot line btw, the siegfried line

They took a risk and it paid off.

name my band

more like France, along with all other european countries outside of germany, was very weary of war after ww1, that's why it was called the war to end all wars. They just didn't prepare well because they didn't have the stomach for it.

Germans took meth, blitzkrieged around Frances’ lines while France thought they’d be sleeping, win.
That’s it, Germans just took literal meth and rolled half of europe

sadly nazi steamrollers weren't seaworthy, go read some real history how you fucked up, battle of britain was all they could muster

After the first world war the french built a series of forts along the German border called the The Maginot Line.

the plan was to force a german invasion to go through belgum and bottleneck their forces there allowing the french to throw everything they had at them and overwhelm the invaders.

the only other path without going through the line was the Ardennes a heavily forested area that was though to be a natural barrier against invasions since it would greatly impede the vehicles needed for an invasion force.

the Germans went through the Forrest anyway and got through much quicker than expected.

the French military was out of position to intercept the invasion and by the time they could start being of use the germans were already dug in and sacking paris.

Basically France went
no one is crazy enough to do that

Germany responded with
Hold my beer.

>Basically France went
>no one is crazy enough to do that
>Germany responded with
>Hold my beer.
Kek

french actually had more military divisions than germany, and germans about 1/3rd were still unfit for duty since poland campaign, they had same amount of tanks too

fyi everyone in german military thought hitler was crazy to go up against france

>took meth
Jewish meme history

also belgium fucked france over by switching to neutral, the plan was to hold the germans in belgium and belgians just said fuck it (ardennes would still be a hole, but whole organizational aspect comes into play, french troops were cut while driving to netherlands border, instead of being organized which would give them a chance)

POSTED EVERY DAY
EVERY DAY
MODS KILL YOURSELVES

Because France was in the grips of cultural Marxism, and the Jews in theor government were trying to convince them to fight to the death against their other half. Thank fuck they did the smart thing.

>. Stalin honored the non-aggression pact, by the way, it was Hitler who betrayed the agreement and doomed eastern Europe.
...and keeping them stronger.

you get your french history from youtube? maybe try reading a book for once

20/20 but France should've abandoned Belgium all together. Major reason for defeat is due to the fact that their best troops were cut off very quickly.

maginot line was their preparation and costly at that, they were outnumbered in populace by germany 2:1, with trench warfare they had no chance in WWI deux, it's really weird noone mentions belgium as they are pretty much the main reason france went down so fast (or at all), them switching fucked the whole plan

they did actually it was called Pervitin, low dose amphetamines, the problem later in the war was soldiers were abusing it due to the stress of war and caused havoc among front line troops, especially those on the eastern front

Dude, Germany was kicking the entire word's ass for almost 5 years.
France was decimated by WW I, so they never stood a chance.

youtube.com/watch?v=HjwD_X0okys

Except unlike Poland and Denmark, France could have actually saved itself if its leadership wasn’t drooling retards.

Made the same mistake in WW1 of not covering the upper part of their border and didn't put up much fight against the occupation since the Germans weren't as cruel as history likes to portray them as

>they had same amount of tanks
they did not the allies had more tanks, why post if you get the most basic shit wrong?

and how? By fighting an endless war like WW1?

my understanding:
Belgium was allied with France, the whole Maginot Line concept was with belgium+french army holding major rivers. Soon before invasion Belgium switched to neutral and would not participate. Once germans attacked french didn't manage to deploy as with belgian help and most of their troops (which were planned to hold rivers in Belgium) got caught off guard by the Ardennes push. If original plan worked, they at least would have like 2 weeks of ammo/fuel etc, with how it ended up they had like 2-3 days, so ended up surrendering even though more numerous than what germans have thrown. Someone tell me I'm faggot and it's all wrong

The french army had more equipment at the battle of France than the Germans, and a more modern army.

Hitler's such a Gangster, he made France sign their surrender, in the same spot Germany signed it's armistice in WW I.

Attached: 1280px-Fochs_Railway_Car_Second_Time_Around_1940.jpg (1280x960, 262K)

so he like won WWI and lost WWII, it all evens out

Attached: 1509632318495.jpg (752x564, 132K)

The French Generals were old men with outdated ways of thinking on war and couldn’t respond to the speed of the German assault. They prepared for a repeat of 1918, but 1940 was a much different type of warfare.

Ww1 shits all over ww2

You’re right but that’s how not why.

because this bad boy shave his beard of course!

>Gangster

>"I will pass over the insulting attacks made by this so-called President against me. That he calls me a gangster is uninteresting. After all, this expression was not coined in Europe but in America, no doubt because such gangsters are lacking here. Apart from this, I cannot be insulted by Roosevelt for I consider him mad just as Wilson was. I don't need to mention what this man has done for years in the same way against Japan. First he incites war then falsifies the causes, then odiously wraps himself in a cloak of Christian hypocrisy and slowly but surely leads mankind to war, not without calling God to witness the honesty of his attack-in the approved manner of an old Freemason. I think you have all found it a relief that now, at last, one State has been the first to take the step of protest against his historically unique and shame less ill-treatment of truth, and of right-which protest this man has desired and about which he cannot complain. The fact that the Japanese Government, which has been negotiating for year with this man, has at last become tired of being mocked by him in such an unworthy way, fills us all, the German people, and think, all other decent people in the world, with deep satisfaction."

-Hitler in his declaration of war on America.

well, why is belgium switching which fucked up a plan that was workable (even with ardennes penetration)

Here's France and Germany's Populations vs their Deaths from WW I.

Attached: WW I Population and Deaths.png (1518x703, 85K)

I'm dumbfounded no one has posted what actually happened. Hitler began occupying the countries neighboring Germany, so France put ALL of its troops on the France-Germany border. Hitler, predicting this, ordered his army to march on France by going through Belgium, which was a neutral country at the time. France never expected Hitler to completely ignore the wishes of a neutral party, so it had relatively few troops on the Belgium-France border. The Germans, hugely outnumbering and ougunning the northern part of France's army, rolled into France and lined up to the west of its army. The entire French army was sandwiched between German forces on both sides and wisely surrendered in lieu of being ground into dust in what would have been a couple of days of fighting at most. The French weren't cowardly in WW2 - they just got outplayed.

> France never expected Hitler to completely ignore the wishes of a neutral party, so it had relatively few troops on the Belgium-France border

Fucking KEK moltke pulled the same shit not 30 years beforehand!

>France never expected Hitler to completely ignore the wishes of a neutral party, so it had relatively few troops on the Belgium-France border.
this is so wrong it's stupid, their whole plan was impenetrable maginot line, they expected them going through belgium as they would just bounce on the franco-german border ffs

Desu don't get caught up in this kind of thinking its exactly what was thought before both WW1 and WW2, i mean look less then 17 years ago we all got together and occupied Iraq and Afghanistan the same way the Nazis did with Poland and France.
