I can't watch any war movies now, I can't celebrate the death of a nation trying to save the white race desu.

The movie is obviously biased towards the UK but it's actually pretty good regarding not demonizing nazis. If I recall correctly the word "nazi" isn't even used. Just "the enemy." And no german soldier is even shown prominently until the very end and they're out of focus. No mandatory holocaust scenes or anything.

the germans were depicted as some kind of heartless evil in the movie sinking medic ships and killing evacuating men.
Its very effective, it almost made me wish the Germans never existed.

It had the opposite effect on me and made me hate the British even more.

It was very clear at the beginning that they were ducks in a barrel and we're basically waiting to die. The scene with the medical ship heightened their desperation because it was their last ship. I'll shill this movie until I die, I wish it was still in theaters so I could go back and listen to it.

This isnt a war movie. The allies barely fired back at the Nazis and were merely trying to go back home. The movie literally depicted the entire allied forces as innocent civilians being hunted and tormented by some faceless demon.

That sounds Good actually, obviously it's going to be biased towards the side of the protags but part from that it sounds like it's focussing on the events at hand. That's the best kind of war movie alobgside the documentary like ones showing both sides with each one speaking their respective languages, that kind of war movie they stopped doing in the 70s for some reason.

it was about capturing the feeling. It wasnt about the villain it was about capturing the feeling of their escape. When youre in war you're not thinking about the propoganda that they shill about the enemy back home. Youre thinking of how to move forward or how to go back.

It highlighted bravery, cowardice and the cold hard quick brutal nature of war. It was a thriller, and an experience. not a story.
