It's a liberal town but at the same time it's a peaceful and pretty sleepy town (someone commented about meth heads I'd say Missoula's more DUDE WEED than Meth, Meth is more Billings style). There's mines but the major economic driver in Missoula is the University. There used to be a big timber industry there, but the last pulp mill closed down in the early 2000's I think.
