Jungle primaries in partisan states often narrow the choices down to two candidates from the same party. All this means is that in the GE, moderates and conservatives will vote for the less radical candidate (in this case Feinstein) in a landslide, preventing horrible progressive policies from being enacted.

If this was between De Leon and a Republican, the GOP candidate would be a sacrificial lamb who would almost surely lose.

This system is actually good for conservatives, because it keeps moderates in office and alienates retarded socialists.
