Have you ever heard of the concept "bonus family"?
This is a common thing in Sweden since at least the 70s. The idea is that people get children with someone they haven't married, but then realize they'd rather fuck someone else. So what happens is, they split up and find new partners who also have children from previous relations and get new children with them. So you may have a family with 2 adults and 3 children of different ages, where 2 of them aren't related at all and hate each other, with no guarantee whatsoever that even these two parents will stay together. This is one of the most common family structures in the country. Sometimes it's more than 1 previous relations, up to 3 or 4, with lots of children being caught in-between. Sometimes several couples even live together in one big house because it makes it easier to take care of their mutual children. To the children, this is a type of living hell, and they grow up to resent their parents and especially their "bonus parents".
So why do we have this? How did it become so common? Because individual freedom in Sweden is more important than anything else. If a mother gets bored of her partner, the mere suggestion that she might try to fix things for the sake of the children is offensive. If she doesn't want to take care of her family, she doesn't have to. Taxes will pay for it.

This is the problem we have the United States too. You see this in liberals framing abortion rights or fag marriage not in terms of responsibility to the unborn, or the overall social structures these institutions create, but in terms of individual rights.
