To be fair, I googled and checked his work.
Some of his more controlled stuff is really pretty
good. Stylistically tight, good color control.
But to be honest I see just as good stuff if not
better in most of the graffiti that runs through NYC.
His larger pieces lack technical skill and maturity.

He has work of random splats of paint and stuff that looks like a freshman art school stuff. He largely started this trend.

He also has works that show he could paint as well as rembrant or michaelangeo.

He had talent, and the knowledge of how to paint at the highest level.

So when he made weird squiggly colored lines, it wasn't just random schlock pushed by Jewish art critics feeding upon themselves.

It was a choice he made to specifically forgo classical style to express himself in another way.

His work is art.

Most modern art is the cobbled together emotional tantrum of the talentless and unable, as opposed to legitimate choice in their method of expression. They aren't exercising any such choice when creating these paint splattering, its that they're incapable of doing anything else.

Dali could paint and draw in any fashion, and made art in every fashion, and felt the need to practically make up this sort of painting.

He had talent and ability enough to have the authority of declaring his paint splatterings as art.
He could say his work was an examination of lines, or whatever, and it would have actually truly been him doing that.

I think he means that the guy can actual draw but in this particular instance he made the decision to paint like a 5yr old but since he's proficient in actual artistic skills it's considered ok thus he made 'art'.

I'm willing to bet if you got an art history major you could make the same claim too or if you had a strong grasp on art theory.

Most of his stuff is weird as hell, especially for when it was made, but the point being that he could paint anything, so what he made was done specifically how he wanted it, and not because he couldn't do anything else.
