Stellaris doesn't even have alternative win conditions, every game is literally just minerals -> fleet -> win war.
None of the gene traits do anything important, none of the civics do anything important, none of the planets do anything important; nothing. It's all just fungible pops.
In Civ at least you can play differently for science/ culture victory

There are different win conditions in Civ 6 but it still just feels so simple, like a board game.
I wish there was more grand strategy in Civ. And that the different systems, gold, science, culture, faith, were more interconnected. It feels like they were designed in
isolation and then just cobbled together, rather than being designed to work together. Sometimes, especially with the eurekas, inspirations and era scores, it feels like you are just being forced to play the way the game wants you to play, almost like you a ticking points off a list.
I guess I wish there was more RNG in the game, and that there were random senarios which would force you to adapt and which would make each game unique. Like even in Alpha Centauri there were insane mechanics like terraforming would change the weather patterns and global warming etc.

Civ 4 is best Civ sometimes just because they make a sequel doesn't make it automatically better then the older ones. Civ 6 is easy AF even on the harder settings the AI needed the death stack much more then the player did.

A game i used to play Jagged Alliance had racial and sexist settings. Some characters didn't like minorities and they would lose morale if in a team with them for over an hour.

Civ VI is a massive disappointment, it’s clear it was developed for the iPad with it’s silly cartoon like character’s. However, it has been dumbed down even further from Civ V taking any joy away from one of the most enjoyable strategy games ever developed, Civ II & III were the best Civ games in my opinion.

Beyond shooters, neo-Nazis also seem to be particularly fond of grand strategy games like Civilization or Crusader Kings — presumably because of the imperialist gameplay. So, It's no surprise they would want to mod games like that as well. That also extends to space-exploration games like Stellaris, which received a mod in May 2016 making it possible to oversee a galactic empire ruled by only white men.
