So how does an org like Twitter handle that aspect when it comes to bans, if they're shared, and change to other dynamic shared IP frequently?

Why not just source numbers, like the telemarketers have been doing, or do they have to verify the integrity of a number with a 2FA text?

Hmmm, a few months ago. I looked for a google voice # with my areas area code so it looked legit. Might try other VOIP services aside from Google voice. Is there a way for them to differentiate between VOIPs with your area code and legit #'s with your phone service with your area code? Maybe someone with better understanding could help chime in on this subject.

yes they use 2fa, they send you a pin code by text when you create your account which you have to validate, i tried various free phone # apps and google voice and none worked, it never even got far enough to send the text the prompt would always say something like "number invalid". they must have a list to be able to recognize the VoIP range somehow. anyway i just gave up and bought a couple cheap pay-as-you-go burners from walmart to make mine

So, in the past, they probably weren't as desperate to ban IP addresses, because it simply wasn't as high up on their priority list.
