You can see climate change with your eyes. This will not be ignored.
As the permanently frozen earth thaws in the north it begins to erupt; not lava, but gas. Methane from below the earth that was trapped there for thousands of years escapes, and when it gets there, it's 20x more efficient than C02 at trapping heat in the atmosphere.
A man made volcano is coming your way brought to you by everything you need to survive.
>20x more efficient than C02 at trapping heat in the atmosphere. When will this bullshit lie die. Its barely more than 2x better, take that 20x number and stuff if up your goddamn HIV ass. Fucking illiterate niggers, get a degree in engineering. Thermal properties, specifically heat transfer for gasses in mW/m K at 300k CO2: 16.8 CH4: 34.1
Let me ask you fine gentlemen... or gentlewomen? Maybe? I'm sorry for assuming your genders.
Anyway, let me ask you fine FAGGOTS a question - let's say the earth starts to warm up so fast that you can't grow enough food anymore... and you can't go outside anymore, and there's no more fresh water and everybody is fucking dying...
Then what, anons? THEN what do you do?
Just, continue to meme like the degenerate basement dwellers that you are?
I think so. I think that's what you're going to do.
IN THE FACE OF GLOBAL CATASTROPHE YOU JUST MAKE YOUR MEME JOKES.
Well I'VE GOT A SURPRISE FOR YOU SCUMBAGS ITS ALL OVER.
That's right. All of it. It's all over. It's all coming down man and if you don't see it you're just like the others. JUST LIKE THEM.
So fucking PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT you NAZI TRASHCANS.
Josiah Wright
Norbofy is denying that the climate changes. The sun obviously impacts change in climate. Furthermore, NASA already verified that cloud formation is the greatest single factor contributing to fluctuations in global temperature. The degree to which Anyhropamorphic climate change factors into all this is debatable.

Don't care. Stop and reverse the invasion of white countries and the rest of 'progressivism' and I swear, for you, I'll vote socialist/commie and shill for climate issues for the rest of my life.
So what are you going to do about it? I understand you're grown up and woke on the subject.
Ethan Davis
ask your professor why methane wasn't released during the last interglacial when more ice melted and sea levels were even higher. warming is real. just look at alpine glaciers for proof. if we were cooling they would be growing not shrinking fast. real target should be 350ppm, and that is totally possible if that was really the goal, but scientists with plans and engineers with solutions are ignored.
asshole, I was supporting you. there's literally a project to clone woolly mammoths so they snuffle all this shit down. dickhead.

Let me tell you something for real - you think that caravan coming out of Honduras or wherever the fuck is bad... that's just the fucking beginning. Just wait.
okay ill bite. I dont know if you are all shills, AI, or just mentally challenged CIA niggers. But they are prepping for a quick ice melt and flooding of coasts around the world. My theory is they want to melt it on purpose to get what is underneath.Check out pic related, I think its not true, but they are reaching for excuses when the ice all melts in a week. Whoever controls our world is going to be brutally btfo'd for doing all of this to us.
>China and India both outstrip all other developed nations by a factor of 2. >Both have said they will not agree to the restrictions placed on Western nations by the Paris Accords >nothing any western nation could do can reverse our course, not even shutting everything down and returning to the Stone Age >yfw the fate of the planet is controlled by bugmen and street shitters
Our one hope, our only hope, is to ignite the furnace of human industry so hot that we reach decades into the future and pull the technology back necessary to reverse the damage already done. We did it once before, with the moon landing. We can do it again. Any other measure is merely pulling the handbrake with the wheels already over the cliff.
It's actually... we're actually at 409 ppm as we speak. We passed that target - are you saying we take the carbon OUT of the atmosphere?
Zachary Richardson
There are a ton of practical ways we could reduce the overall temperature of the planet. Politicians and big money prevent these things from getting done. Because if the problem gets solved they can no longer get their trillions in funding. People like you treating it like a religion are part of this. Get specific about the particular methods of cooling the earth you support and them. Bitching about who 'believes' and who is a 'heretic' does nothing.

Haha. She thinks if we all just get together, spend a shit ton of money, and try really hard we will reverse the course of nature. If what you say is true (not likely), then it cant be stopped with any tech stupid humans have. Everybody dies someday. Dont do too many drugs, and stay in school sweetheart
Benjamin Wood
Mongolian basket weaving is all I do SON... are you joking me and the chans go way the fuck back I won't give this shit up ever.
It's changing because we set oceans of fossil fuel on fire and not for any other reason. The rate of change is important too user; natural, geological events don't take place over decades, they take place over thousands or millions of years, unless you're talking about something SUPER dramatic like an asteroid impact, but other than that you don't see changes like this in the span of a person's lifetime like you do today.
Kayden Collins
>As the permanently frozen earth thaws stopped reading there
If you look at the geological record for the past million years you see that temperature cycles between a high point and a low point - glaciations and interglacials. This in and of itself suggests a well buffered system with strong negative feedbacks that kick in once certain criteria are met. We are either near, at or just past the modern peak and if the pattern seen in the geological record via Vostok, Greenland, Antarctic ice cores continues, we are actually due for another glaciation.
Heres how to end every one of these threads. Click link.

How much straight physics and earth science/geology were you required to study to get that title?
Climate science is such a young field that its theories and predictions haven't had much opportunity to be time tested. I believe in 50 years people will view it in the same light as we currently do phrenology and homeopathy.

There was no carbon to cause these previous warming spells (when the ice core/sediment records indicate it was even warmer than it is currently). So what caused it then? The answer - it is a cycle.
How can climate change be real if our eyes aren't real?
Jeremiah Thomas
Which would be fine... if we hadn't burned an ocean of fossil fuel to heat the furnace of modern post-industrial human civilization.
We're only now just beginning to feel the effects of what we've done.
Think of these hurricanes and droughts and forest fires and melting sea ice as the earthquakes and seismic activity before a volcano blows. The premonitions of a future event; not at all the main course.
That's great data that you've shared with me... but all it's showing me is a record of the past, taken over hundreds of thousands of years.
In the past 150 years we've released hundreds of billions of tons of carbon gas into the atmosphere. The blink of an eye geologically speaking.
It's taking some time for the planetary system to react, but believe me friend, that needle is about to fly off the charts.

Moderately passable copypasta, 6.5/10

I just don't think additional CO2 past about 200ppm or so is a big deal. There are more powerful forces at play. And it's not some retarded self-reinforcing positive feedback - the geological record show that the negative feedbacks and the thermal minimums and maximums are much stronger.
I can't tell anymore, Poe's law has been at maximum overshill levels since 2010.

What's your opinion on the hypothesis that - based on the ice core/sediment records - the global climate swings like a pendulum between thermal minimum and maximum, and at the min/max the change is dominated by strong negative feedbacks that push it back towards the opposite extreme?
Owen Gutierrez
Nobody can guaruntee you a completely ironclad border, and nobody can give you back a close-to-pure white ethnostate without genocide or mass deportation... and that's strictly off the table. It's a human rights violation... and it's a sickening slur on the human species as a whole that it takes place at all.
BUT, maintaining national boundaries and preventing anarchy should be one of the state's number one priorities in the event of a rise in climate refugees... which WILL happen... because it already is, and because the conditions driving it will only continue to escalate as time goes on.
Camden Perez
And? You're making the assumption I want this world to survive. Here's a hint for you, faggot: I don't give a shit. If the West is going to be destroyed, then I would literally rather watch the rest of the world fucking burn then let those anal leakages given human form live.
Actually, if the West survives, I still want the rest of you dead.
What does it matter, OP? We're not responsible for Global Climate change. It's a natrual cycle of our Earth. You're pushing an agenda that's closely linked to socialism with no scientific data that the entire scientific community can agree upon. Most research into GCC is sponsored and paid for by private organisations, NGO's, and political groups and think tanks. All of which benefit greatly from people like you and your ignorance.
China polluted the Earth ten fold more than we do, but yet, you want to regulate America into the ground and shrivel our economy up. You don't believe the bs you're saying, or else you'd be posting on a Chinese forum blaming them. China is about to legally own half of Africa and their resources, which they're using to create more plastics, computer parts, garbage bags, and coal and fossil fuel emissions are apart of the gathering process.
In short, go fuck yourself, OP.
Chase Perry
>so fast you can't grow food anymore. Allow me to educate you a bit on historical temperatures and their effect on global conditions.
The earth has been fully defrosted before. We know this from data dating the atmospheric concentrations and approximate global temperatures from iceberg data. I have provided a graph aggregating several studies' estimates for global data going back several hundred million years.
On this chart, you will see several points where the global temperature was 14 C above current. This is WELL above the often-feared 5C increase scientists claim will cause a runaway global heating event.
The eocene is one of those periods. It was a time when much of the earth's land was tropical jungle and swamps. Think of florida, and you think of the majority of the mainland united states in the eocene. Water is plentiful because evaporation and rainfall are increased, due to higher temperatures. The globe is more temperate, because the water cycle's increased strength distributes temperature more quickly via global currents. More landmass is available, because 30% of the landmass is no longer tundra and arctic hellscape, and the rising sea level takes out less than 5%.
This chart also shows the great deal of resistance of global climate to these runaway changes. It takes tens of thousands of years just to adjust by 3-4 degrees globally, and your fears don't even occur at 14 degrees.
If you did your research yourself instead of listening to lobby-funded talking heads trying to sell mercury-laden lamps and solar panels, you might know this.
Guess we'd better build some natty gas wells to capture all that precious methane, then.
Alexander Sanders

Here is a depiction of what the earth looked like 300 million years ago, to the best of our knowledge.
Does this look like a landscape in which we cannot grow food? Notice the abundance of floral greenery, water, and animals, all highly dependent on the high concentrations (higher than now) present in the atmosphere.
I just don't understand what you think this guy from whenever and wherever has to do with the radiative properties of the trace chemicals that repartition heat in the atmosphere.
Joseph Richardson
Would you mind giving me some more context on that graph? C02 shouldn't have diminishing returns on temperature. If that were true Venus wouldn't be Venus.
Dan Pena talking about Antarctic ice cores. IT'S BEEN HOTTER THAN IT IS NOW, NO RUNAWAY WARMING.
