Get CT scanned at the ER

For 17k the radiologist should have blown me.

If you weren't retarded you could have booked an appointment at a specialty clinic for like $500 without insurance. That $16,500 is your idiot tax

dude you’re so lucky you have the freedom to pay your own medical bills and noone else’s

I went in due to highly fluctuating lower right abdominal pain. Kinda don't want to die from appendicitis.

Kek just don't pay. Niggers do that all the time and nothing is done about that. Why obey a fucked up system?

Forget about frequent flyer spooks. Beaners literally use it as a free walk-in clinic.

They're a couple of hundred bucks in Australia and that's before the government gives you half the money back

That's a lot just to get half your DNA scrambled. Thank the doctors for the treatment.

These things are the biggest money makers in the whole hospital. Every hospital wants one and they want to keep them in continuous use all day to maximize profits. Hospitals have to make up losses from the ER which is required to treat everyone who can't pay. This is how hospitals do it. That and they bill surgery patients for extra medicine and equipment they don't use. They just open the packaging on extra tubes, syringes, etc and dump them in the trash and bill it to insurance. They can charge $500 for a $3 tube. It's big money.

Some jurisdictions will actually arrest you for that now. Not all, but a number do.

1700 is all they expect you to pay

>be hypochondriac
>get needlessly tested

give all your money or die you dumb goy
stupid fucking goy complaining about stuff

>be canadian
>heart flutters
>get x-ray
>get holter monitor
>doctor personally visits me
>Hey don't worry it's probably just premature ventricular contractions, we'll see with the monitor
>confirmed PVC's
>stop drinking coffee
>goes away
>total cost: $0

no they do not

Lies. Its an unsecured debt and you arent liable for it any where in the u.s.

they can test with 99% accuracy using just blood/urine tests and feeling with their hands for swelling/pain in the immediate area. CT scans are fairly new, you think everyone with appendicitis died before they were invented? You got scammed my dude. You got to look at doctors like shady car mechanics now days, you can go in for an oil change and spend $25, or you can spend $85, they're just looking to up sell you on fancy wiper blades and 'premium' oil, unneeded shit.

you forgeting that your tax money paid for you cunt

I didn't even ask for one. Physical examination and urine sample should have been enough. Turns out I have a kidney stone.

Fuck that. That would be like my fucking world ending. I would be white girl can't-evening. I don't think I would pay it even if I could.

Natural selection is still somewhat at play.
Now if the cancer snuffs out OP,
some other lucky fellow will move on up to shift supervisor at McDonald's.

gotta pay for those illegals using the ER as their regular doctor visit

Joke's on you. I work at dominos.

I use Medicaid and got a whole body scan for free, didn't even need one just wanted to get one, thanks faggot tax payers

This is bad information. There are tonnes of differential diagnoses and it it not possible to exclude many of them without some form of imaging. A ultrasound would have been best provided that the sonographer wasn't sped and that user isn't a ham planet. The ct would be useful as it would have been portal venous phase and covered the whole abdomen and therefore would have been able to exclude multiple different pathologies.

and your tax money was paid for Israels yearly aid and the welfare of black single mothers
your point?

I get a full on MRA/MRI done every couple of years and it's a cool 10-12k each time. I pay a few hundred bucks because I'm not a nigger and I have decent health insurance. Also the hospital gives me huge discount on the copay because I'm not a nigger and I can actually pay them up front.

If you make 25k a year you qualify for Medicare and probably would only pay a fraction of the 17k, if not free.

>go to America

My brother had to pay $6k out of pocket for an MRI after he fainted at work.

Lool the state of America

you know you can question the doctor's procedures right? ask about costs, ask about necessity, they'll push every little thing they can on you if you don't. My sister had some nasal cavity problem in one side of her nose and the doctors played this game of 'let me recommend you to a friend' about 4 times, all charging their standard consultation/examination fees, to finally be told by the last person "lets just keep an eye on it for now I wouldn't worry about it; Oh here's your bill". You'll get played if you let them.

Theres no jury in the world that would convict someone of a crime related to not paying hospital debt, nor a hospital that could actually prove it costs that much, nor would they sue which would just mean you not pay even more. They will accept whatever you give them and write the rest off as a lost for the government to handle.

Its all fucked, but such advanced healthcare is extremely new, its basically a miracle. It will take some time for things to smooth out.

Why on earth would you go to the ER for imagery? Can get that shit done for 100 bux at an imaging center.

Every single hospital has financial assistance. Google the hospital name plus financial assistance and you’ll see some forms to fill. You’ll have to send them your tax returns and bank statements and depending on their policy you can get up to a 100% discount on that bill.

At least I can kill my wife's boyfriend, Boris.

This.

OP, forgot to mention that you should have been more careful about the CT scan. That shit can cause cancer and it shouldn't be done willy nilly. I've had a ton of imaging done to me but never radiation because neither I or or my doctors are idiots.

You forgot the part where it takes 3 years to get an appointment.

No its free

Shouldn't have gotten the CT scan faggot.

>99% accuracy
>c o n f i d e n c e l e v e l
Estimate the confidence interval and probability of Type II error.

Depends on the state. If he she it lives in the few states who didn’t expand Medicaid his her its xir best bet is to file for financial assistance

and it ended up being kidney stones, right?

Yes, well, one that passed.

the trick to that shit is; before you do anything, tell them you have no insurance and ask how much it costs. sometimes you get random free stuff and sometimes they skip unnecessary stuff that insurance usually covers

Dude. A cbc plus an ultrasound would be the best test for appendicitis. Maaaaybe they were looking for kidney stones ?

That price includes the cost of all the other freeloaders at the hospital unfortunately. Plus side, bankruptcy law lets you wipe out that debt if they try and lever the cost on you. OP should call their billing and tell em to pound sand. Once they understand OP isn't insured they'll prolly let him walk for like 500 bux.

Radiologist here. I earn maybe $75 for reading your CT scan. Which isn't bad, since it usually only takes 10 minutes at most.

The hospital keeps all the rest of the money. This is why the CEO at the hospital probably makes ten times as much per year as I do.

Go to a freestanding outpatient imaging center if you possibly can, and if you don't have insurance, negotiate a cash payment. In our private offices, CT scans cost about $250 for cash customers.

Niooo don’t say that. Idk how the hell i passed step 1 without learning that shit.

That's what you get for putting it off so long.

There's a penalty fee for stupidity.

>CT scan for possible appendicitis
Either this is a LARP thread or you got scammed

you have to haggle with the hospital. Find out how much it actually coasts then lowball them

Where did you go for residency and what was your step 1 score?

that lower right abdominal pain is always the dead giveaway. sucks you got scammed. when i had my first bout with them, i at first thought it was appendicitis. drove like a madman to the e.r. and the nurse asked where it hurt, i told him and he said "kidney stones". gave me a demerol shot and i was in heaven 2 minutes later. they sent me home with vicodin and a $300 bill and then the thing passed a few days later. the next 2 times i got them i just toughed it out: spent most of the day in a hot bathtub. but $17k, yikes, you got fucked. :(

Lol enjoy driving with a cardboard oil filter and 5 quarts of used O'Reilly oil.

Hey that was about 0.8% the cost of the average high end CT scanner. Maybe if you find 100 other people to go in with you you can buy your own and charge others to use it. That way you'd make more than 25k a year like a loser.

Most oil filter membranes are basically cardboard.

>Where did you go for residency and what was your step 1 score?

1) A large state university in the Southwest
2) 239

For 17k you could have gotten a flight to TJ Mexico, gotten a ct scan, treatment for stones and hell your kidney removed anyways, pain meds, tacos, a hooker and still had 15k left over.

There's no history of kidney stones in my family. I think it's because of recent use of ibuprofen, acid reducers, and sitting too much.

Oh I guess I should start buying the $2 ones again then. Why even change the oil since the filters are so good. Just put it back in lol.

like a lot of others have said, there's no way they'll expect you to pay that $17k. talk with the financial people at the hospital. you'll probably be able to get it reduced to under a thousand bucks, maybe even just a few hundred. good luck user.

your wait times and taxes are about to get a lot bigger. and these guys usually have serious diseases since they come from shitholes with no vaccinations and some nasty shit

Attached: 1539543132274.png (611x820, 495K)

Clearly no filters remove the need to have oil changes done, but he's right that most oil filters are cardboard/paper based.

This is accurate. Regular people that have real jobs get company subsidized health insurance benefits. At my job, most guys with a wife and four kids pay max $100/week for full coverage health insurance. Single people pay nothing for their coverage, unless they want a $10 copay which puts them in the $50/week bracket. Full dental and vision coverage is included.

The US has reams of regulations and sweetheart lisencing and certification scams to make sure only certain people are making money in the medical industry. Price controls don't help either. If you wanted to buy one of those machines - they're not actually that expensive - and charge less for walk-in service, you wouldn't be allowed to. The US medical system fundamentally doesn't serve the American public or even paying customers, but treats them instead like livestock.

A lot of medical services in Europe are oddly more market friendly than in the US.

A free market CT scan costs around 800 Euros, complete with radiologist's report and diagnosis. That's what, around 900 dollars?

t: Guy who developped kidney stones and got a peek on the bill they sent to my health insurance.

If you pay more than that, you don't have a free market, you have a cartel that fixes the prices.

Hahaha get fucked oh and trust your daddy doctor he sure wants only the best for you!

>Canada's Somalian immigration minister

keke

We use MRI here. Seriously you see Jack shit with CT. The X Ray is only good for dental and pneumonia, of course broken limbs. You have a nerve pinch or cancer it is MRI tier.

>wait 3 months for appointment
>it was actually serious condition
>die

Attached: 1540000267095.png (755x696, 521K)

And with modern full synthetics you're probably good to go for at least 12k miles between changes presuming normal driving. There is little merit to an expensive filter unless you have some sort of way out of band performance need.

It depends on what you want to find. Broken bones and kidney stones, you use X-rays. They're instantaneous and cheap. Soft tissue like tumors, you use MRT. But you have to remain in the tube for a long time and it costs more.

>be an MRIfag
>30min for a scan
>need a complicated toxic contrast dye
>die from an allergic reaction

the best part is that if you asked up front they wouldnt tell you what it "costs"

Al this can actually happen in America. It's really unbelievable but it's true.

It was all done in about 4 hours.

I had to come back another day for the monitor, but that was 10 minutes to do.

Let me guess. No insurance? Amirite?

No worries. Trumpcare will kick in soon and save you.

Attached: 1496208173591.jpg (720x960, 90K)

I've had several MRI with the dye. Have read up on the side effects but no major ones. Hair started falling outtafter the most event one.

Redpill me on the dye.

You’re clueless. No one is doing MRI to diagnose your appendicitis unless you got knocked up and come in pregnant. CT is standard of care unless it’s a pediatric center and they might prefer ultrasound because they care about how many mSv your scrote is getting.

Legally they're not allowed to. Remember, in the hospital system the patient isn't the customer. You can thank the government for breaking that critical link in the market.

There's nothing wrong with using conventional oil, you're a retard,

Umm 8000 X Ray shots in 15 minutes are better?

I will believe everything you just wrote in here. Thank you.

Kidney stones are ultrasound. Fml ur a retard Abdul bin Mohammed el-Stuttgarti.

And that's a bad thing because? Meanwhile we pay billions to Israel while we have to sit on our hands and let immigrants swarm into our country when they should be repelled with a military that we pay for.

Don't get whole body scans without symptoms retard. Just asking for future malignancies.

Bruh who does that crap , a good expert will be able to tell by feeling it with his hand and testing your blood

As if ultrasound will work on an amerilard. Too fat for soundwaves to transmit. Low dose CT KUB is fastest and best you faggot.

I HAD KIDNEY STONES!
Too fucking big for ultrasound.

What am I doing, talking to a gypsy who thinks rubbing a wound with manure is considered medicine.
